Well, the game has been free for years now and they say it always will be. This is opensource with devs working for free all around the world. The whole idea is to develop a game without a Corporate agenda. This all stacks up to a better game in the long run.
When confronted by a difficult problem, you can solve it more easily
by reducing it to the question, \"How would The Hulk handle this?\"

I would not mind paying for this game to give them more incentive to work more/add more things. I\'d pay maybe $8 a month, maybe 10 at the most.

I don\'t mind waiting.  Will more than likely be one more day or so till they get it back up and running.  But hey, I think this game is awesome as far as the screenshots.  Almost reminds me of Everquest or something similar to that.. Besides, I think RPGs are the best thing that could ever come about with games.

And another thing.  They don\'t want to get paid for it, as they consider it a hobby, something fun to do..  Besides if everyone that played this game, paid 10 dollars a month for instance, they would get about 30,000 - 300,000 dollars a month.  That is a lot and they know this..  That is why they want to keep it a hobby, in my opinion.  They know that this would make them have to warrant the crashes and provide technical support for it..  Which really isn\'t what they want, they want to provide a game free of charge, nothing more, nothing less, I believe.  I love their intentions..  I wish I were as skilled as they are.. :)

Exactly.

They don\'t want to have to owe anyone anything.  They want to be able to, one day, replace this with some sort of Barney Porn site, shut down all the servers, and disappear in to the ether, without you being able to have righteous wrath.

They also don\'t want to have to deal with what happens when people have to pay for something -- they start focusing on leveling instead of role-playing to get their money\'s worth.

Barney Porn site.  That is funny.  I don\'t believe that they will ever dissapear seens how they have a lot of friends and want to do this for fun.  They will either 1. keep working on it or 2. give it to someone else to work on.  I don\'t think they will ever throw away 2 or 3 years worth of work.  This is a good thing to put in a portfolio for future jobs.

They aren\'t making a new updater per say.  They are actually going to be updating the updater with the current released binary.  That way we can actually play.  The current updater file is the development version for the server side.  That is why, in linux, it removes the psclient binaries.  Because it was the server updater not the client updater.. lol..  I would say by the end of today or tomorrow there should be a final say that would tell everyone to reinstall / update again to get the latest. :)  Plus with the latest, from what I saw, they are adding some extra really cool stuff. :)

EDIT: I was able to start a server with the update-code command..  I checked the code for the server and that is exactly what I saw, as it caught my eye.  It actually only showed the server stuff and not the client stuff. hmmm... :)

this game will never go away... too many of us here would help in anyway possible to keep the game going...

the reason the updater is broken was because it was compiled using the wrong flags... it still has the developer debug mode enabled... which those files arent downloaded...

and if you think being broken every week is unbareable, then you shouldnt be here... go play another game... and stop whining... JUST WAIT FOR THE FRIGGEN FIX ALREADY!!!!
I am just a figment of you imagination and a byproduct of the worse accident ever... ... or so my mommy says!

harkin, you don\'t seem too happy today.  I am in a good mood and am not complaining what so ever.  I would help in getting this working if I had the time, but unfortunately I do not. :)  I am patiently waiting for the fix to be produced. :)
