Section 1.1 of the Manual is \"System Requirements.\"

Everyone ignored \'server\'.
You can run your own server, but that wouldn\'t do you much good. Planeshift will stay on one for some time still.

hey Thiesen no need to be an a** about it alright?

its an easy enough mistake especially since Narzil (no offense intended) didnt really clarify what he was asking very well except for in the title(he was saying he was BUYING a new computer its easy to reach the conclusion that he was wondering about system requirements)

(which by the way he kind of is :P )

Easy enough mistake, I was up late last night. :)

Not quite sure about requirements, but I know they don\'t need any more server sponsors right now. They have a huge list of people volunteering hardware to the project when the time comes that Fragnetics can no longer cope with the load.

Thank you all.  I was begining to think I was being an idiot for not finding server requirements on that page.  Also I\'ll see if I can get hardware donations if you need it.  If so, what kind of things are you looking for?

If you wish to donate anything, donate money/hardware to http://crystal.sourceforge.net/ or one of the other things PS uses. I\'m not sure if fragnetics (http://www.fragnetics.com/) accept donations, but feel free to contact them about it though. They\'re the guys who host the PS server, among other things, and they\'re doing that for free too (thanks you guys).

The PlaneShift project itself does not accept any kind of donations.

I want to borrow the thread a little bit since Narzil asked about what the specs are for an PS server.

I wonder if it would be possible to run a local version of the server on my own computer (so that I could play around in the game world myself and have GM status on it)

Btw I\'m using WinXP and I am not into dev at all... just want to goof around a little myself...

Sorry if I sounded a little too harsh or whatever you wish to call it... or well... you could just challange me ingame if you like to... :-)

Sure you can, but it\'s no easy work, especially with what you expect from it and you OS.
