I have the same exact problem!  Everytime I start it, the MSDOS prompt comes up for a second, thats normal though, then it just closes and never bothers to actually open the client.  I\'m pretty much waiting for Steel Blue though, hopefully it will be much more stable.

And I\'m sure you guys didn\'t bother posting what it says when it crashes, and I\'m sure you didn\'t bother updating either, because it seems to be working just fine here on my system.

By the way, moving this to the CB problems forum.

And I\'m sure it started happening after I updated!  I updated, and it stopped working.  And it doesn\'t say anything, it just doesn\'t load.  The MSDOS prompt goes away to fast to read.  That is all I can say, that\'s all it does...

Oh and BTW, I just tried to run the updater again, it says this application needs to be closed.  Apparently my only solution is to redownload it...

Which would result in you getting an old version of the updater and client, which is likely to be more buggy, and updating then would result in you getting the new version of the updater and client, which presumably exhibit the bugs you describe.

Nice, isn\'t it?

(The updater is crashing instantaneously for me also. Don\'t even think about the client.)

Man, this is the exact same error as I get. You were saying something about the msdos thing that comes up, i took a screenshot of it and if we have the same error (which im pretty sure we do) it says

crystalspace.maploader: could not get node1 converter
crystalspace.maploader: could not get node1 crossbuilder

Ive tried reinstalling it and re-downloading it. Nope, sry still doesnt work :(
I also get an error when I run the updater and the setup thing (what is this, i just found it in the start menu PS folder)

Hello all!

It is my first time when I have a prolem that I can`t resolve. I have the same exact problem. Everytime I start it, the MSDOS prompt comes up for a second, then it just closes and never open the psclient.

It started happening after I updated (10-11.02.2005). I updated, and it stopped working. And it doesn\'t say anything, it just doesn\'t load. The MSDOS prompt goes away to fast to read something, bat I can read the error of the PlansShift Updater:

WARNING! Suspicious: object with tag \'iWin32Assistant\' does not imlement interface \'iWin32Assistant\'!

Fatal Error in ghwin32.dll

csGraphics2DOpenGl:: Open(QI) -- system passed does not support iWin32Assistant.

Dolphy, have you tried opening a command prompt (Start->Run->CMD on XP/2K or Start->Run->Command on 9x/ME), cd\'ing to the planeshift directory and typing psclient? That should execute the psclient but the DOS window should stay around so you can read it.

My borther has an amd64 computer. And after the last update he can\'t play either. Must check first if his problem is resolved by now. But I can say that he also had ogl problems and that CS made updater crash. He got spammed by some error popups and then the app just crashed (no option to safe dump)

For the updater crashing problem go to the properties of your updater icon. Go to the shortcut tab and you\'ll see target somewhere. Type this behind the text that\'s already there: *space*--auto
And you type *space* by hitting your space bar ofcourse :)  Click apply and then OK.

I don`t have a 64bit procesor! My SO is WinXP with SP2.

Sorry, for my bad enghish
