Transportation

Just a question....

Has there been any though to the possibility of some type of transportation as the map expands to many zones other than shoe leather?

I for one would think it would be a cool Idea, an objective to shoot for.

5000 tria for a horse?

If you have a look at background stuff , you could see that:

Pterosaurs

The Pterosaurs are reptiles with organs adapted to flight, such as their membranous wings and long tails, which they use as a rudder. The Pterosaurs\' dimensions vary from three to six meters, not including their tails, and their wingspan is directly proportionate to their bodies. From the moment they are born, Pterosaurs begin training to carry a person sitting in a saddle buckled between the animal\'s shoulder blades. Pterosaurs must be at least three years old and fully trained before they can actually carry a person, which makes them precious, coveted, and very expensive to keep. Only extremely wealthy people can afford these lizards, but no matter how wealthy a family is they may only legally own a single Pterosaur. The law forbids owning more than one of these animals in order to avoid dangerously crowding the limited air space.

Megaras

The second flying animal is the Megaras, which is similar to a giant bat. Scientists believe the Crystal has genetically mutated the Megaras, since they reproduce only in Yliakum. These bat-like creatures are not as docile as the Pterosaurs, but they are stronger and more efficient, making them perfect to carry heavy but not too delicate loads, such as food and building materials. As with the Pterosaurs, each mercantile society is allowed to own only one Megaras.

They just not implemented yet, maybe in Steel Blue, and then it\'s just a maybe...

hmm yeah read that. Think there definately needs to be some sort of transportsystem implemented soon seeing the world is really getting to big to walk to everything. I mean walk half an hour just to get to the point where you want to be seems more then ridiculous.

Don\'t know if anyone timed the travel to the second city yet but the idea of an even larger world with no transportation faster then running (and hear that will eat up your fatigue) makes me kinda desperate already, seeing myself staring at the screen for ages just to get to a place where I haven\'t been yet.

The terror of then running of some stairs to fast and dying and having to walk that way all over again.

If you do not wish to spend the time or the money it takes to go somewhere, then why do you want to go there in the first place? Because it\'s phat lewt or just because it\'s popular to be there? Well, tough luck. Either you walk or you stay. It\'s your choice. :)

hmm why would I want to go somewhere new? Well becuase I want to see something new perhaps? Or becuase some things are only possible at some places?

I am saying that it shouldn\'t have to cost more then half an hour of mindnumbing just to walk to a place from the spawning point.  was talking about when and if the world got even bigger then it is at the moment. I think it isn\'t that strange to expect to be able to PLAY in a game.

I know I\'m not the only one and think it\'s a reasonable position to take so no need to dish me just for feeling the way I do Gronomist.

Ships, carts, trade caravans, teleportation, magical flight - there are essentially limitless ways to get around Yliakum when you think about it. Being constrained to walking or running from point a to b surely isnt going to happen.

I suspect that the different modes of travel will offer both incentives and disadvantages. Sure, it may be fast and easy to slip a couple of tria to your local neighbourhood Sorceror or Arcane Order chapterhouse and be sent vast leagues in the blink of an eye, but that way you dont get to explore the ruins, experience the perils and reap the rewards that a journey on foot will offer.
