Greeting all,

I would like to be a GM in game for help french people who not speak english very well but also  english player because i love help but i want to know if you are  agree for accept french GM ? because i think that is be very helpful for french player :) i cannnot be a dev for help planeshift but i can help planeshift if i\'m a GM ;)

tell me what you think about that, and sorry if my english is not very good, so thanks a lot for your answers :)

To become GM you have to gain 500 advise points and stuff...

cadripper is a french GM but he speak english very well... I dunno if people are looking for non english speaker GM and in fact I saw a post here where it was written if you wanna be a GM dont ask for it or you wont be selected... (but in fact it was a gronomist one so... don\'t lost your nerves its a joke, grono you already know I like you! ;-))

I know Willen since a little time. He seems to be a good person and I think it isnt a bad choice if you select him... but I really hope it\'s not a way to recruit more french players for his guild... is it Willen? cause these last times Zelphire fund a very lot of new believers who werent aware of the existence of the Edheliens or brothers of the shadows for example... and I really dont like that... if you become a GM dont use it for your self profits...

EDIT : these points wont be wiped I hope...

NO fken i dont use this position for more recruit and im not happy taht you think that, because when a new french player come i explain aal that i know and i dont recruit them i say to him they is official french site and they are also 3 guild french and i say they must read the background of all guild for choose that corespond to him :(

ok I believe in you but understand my position : I believe in every old Zelphirien members cause I knew them since more than 6 monthes... but the fact are here : some of your new member doesnt know the newer french guild. They dont know Edheliens are a guild looking for artistics and webmastering capacities for example...

Its boring cause I dont know who I really can trust or what I really must believe...

i say to all new french playerthat they are the guild of Edelgarth an brother of shadow but is not my problem if the news french players  join the zelphirien because i help them!

i don\'t know... i wouldn\'t want to be GM at this point.... couldn\'t really enjoy the game... it\'s a little tough to roleplay if you are a gm...

2. Why would language matter at all!?
3. Fken, he doesn\'t have to tell people about other guilds. That\'s self-destructive in a way. You don\'t tell people about the competition\'s products...

First of all I think that inter-guild grudges don\'t belong here (bad fken ! :P).

Then I think Willen\'s question is aimed at making us think about the everlasting debate of language : Does everyone who want to play a mmorpg have to speak english ? How can we help those who can\'t speak english without creating small language-based communities which will be isolated from the rest of the players ? To avoid this, must we reject all those who can\'t speak english ? Is it even worth it to help them if they can\'t be integrated in the game later because of that damn language barrier ?

But in the specific case of the help canal, imo we don\'t yet have to find answers to those questions. I think that most of the players could rp or just play in english but may have some difficulties finding the right words to explain their technical or gameplay problems. Having a French, German, Spanish or Slovenian GM wouldn\'t really alter the international/community spirit of the game but could help newbies getting familiar with the environment of PS - and therefore integrate - faster.

As for Willen in particular, he is a very VERY commited player and I think he\'d be a very dedicated GM.

PS : Cad isn\'t french ? Well he certainly does speak French very well then if he can fool french people...

If you\'re a useful advisor, you are eligable to be asked to become a GM. Answering 500 points doesn\'t give you any rights at all.

And all the things about being french doesn\'t give you the SMALLEST bonus point ever. If french people can\'t speak read english, they can\'t play the game. It\'s as simple as that. They may have someone helping them, but you\'ll actually realise that your french friends can understand more english than they might want to admit, but if they can\'t... Tough luck. Study harder. It\'s an english game, and having certain nationality doesn\'t give you any advantages.

As for you being french and asking this question on the forum (where it first of all doesn\'t belong at all), that most likely means you have a lot of friends who play PS. And if you have friends playing PS, you\'ll be talking to those friends, you will get status and you will brag. Noone likes a GM that brags, so that\'d automatically make you a bad GM. Of course you might not have any friends, but how would I know that?

Besides, why would anyone need a french GM? You can answer french questions without GM abilities, you can teach your friends to say \"unstick me plz\". Isn\'t that all GMs do anyway?

Anyway. End of discussion. You don\'t ask to be GM, you get asked.

Something I just want to add:

GMs speak english, not french. There is no reason not to encourage people to learn the english language, and split the community and the game in two.
