Toggle run mode
« on: February 10, 2005, 08:28:44 pm »
Instead of having to constantly hold down shift, I would like to be abble to toggle into \"always run\" mode.

Not the same as autorun, \"always run\" mode simply makes the character run whenever the foreward arrow (or W) is pressed, just as if you were holding down the [shift] key constantly.

Can\'t have \'run\' and \'forward\' on the same key?
I like taking things literally, going overboard is fun! Now... why do I keep getting odd looks?

it took me a while to figure this out, but if you hold / and press \\ you\'ll auto run. and actually run.

But i agree, there should be a button to toggle running for when you\'re trotting around in a dungeon, i often forget that i\'m auto running and try to stop by pressing back, but keep on a runnin\'. That should be another change in their future, pressing back to stop auto run, rather than \\ .

Just to make sure there\'s no confusion.  I do know how to turn autorun on and off.

What I am asking for here is a key (or even a menu option) that will toggle the fact that my character normally walks, to the state of normally running . . . when I press and hold the foreward key without holding shift.

I want to have to hold shift to make me walk.

Just clarifying further.

No, there isn\'t currently. This seems to be a popular request, so I say there is a good probability that it will be implemented in the future.

Then again, it\'s a question about lazyness. You don\'t need such a button, you only want it because you feel it\'s annoying you have to hold TWO buttons to do something instead of holding ONE button. So watch out, you might develop some evil disease in your fingers when you start using them.

Then we could also look at it from a diffrent angle. Look at yourself. Do you run everywhere you go? Do you run down to the fridge, and then run back up again, then run outside to check the mailbox and run back inside, and run down to the busstop or the trainstation and run once you get inside the bus/train and run to school or work or run from the bus/car into the place where you\'re supposed to go? Or do you run around while you\'re doing your shopping?... No, you don\'t. :)
