Ran out of mirrors?
« on: February 11, 2005, 03:56:47 am »
Just because it keeps coming up and everyone wants a solution... You can use this, temporarily. It\'s my unofficial Java updater (I imply no warranties, liability, etc.). You\'ll need the JRE 1.4.2 or later available from java.sun.com... Most people should have it, but if you don\'t just head over to java.sun.com and navigate to downloads and then the JRE.
For now here\'s the updater: Updater.jar (29 k)

Just use this until the devs come up with a solution for you guys...

EDIT: !!! Move the Updater.jar file to your Planeshift 3D folder before updating!!!

i believe this problem lies within their updaterconfig file, as someones ive looked at is different from mine and has different mirrors, i posted mine to download in another thread, but overwriting theirs with mine i think should fix it

http://harkin.pcplayground.com/updaterconfig.xml  <--right click and save as to download

ill need a few people to try this and respond on if it works, but for now if cha0s\'s works use that, unlesss you wish to try the file, which is the unchanged file from my PS directory
I am just a figment of you imagination and a byproduct of the worse accident ever... ... or so my mommy says!

Harkin i tried replacing the config file with yours and the updater is doing the same thing....says it couldn\'t connect to the laanx server.

Slagle: You didn\'t read my edit...

As for everyone using my updater: I think I\'ve realized the problem. Copy the updater to your Planeshift folder and then open command line. cd to your planeshift folder and type \"java -jar Updater.jar updateall\" (no quotes, though) and hit return. Then click \"Start Update\" and let it go. It should work then.

Chaos I ran your installer and it worked perfectly but now when I run the game it gives me several errors and then crashes.  its safe to say that your .jar file didn\'t work.  I\'m going to go ahead and reinstall the whole program again now.

just leaving my comment,

yes yes, I\'m saying your program ran fine it was when it was done and I tried starting the actual game when I got the errors.  You probably didn\'t copy the files right or something.

Ok, I\'ve researched this problem and have found that the updater is trying to download the file updater1023.zip to update it\'s self.
The server has no such file.
The latest one ther is updater1022.zip

But I found a sneaky little way of updating the files without updating the updater this may get some of you over the hump.

In updaterconfig.xml their is a line that reads
Code: [Select]
1

If you change this line to read:
Code: [Select]
0

It will update you PS files without trying to update the updater right now.

If you notice though the selection is recomended so once you are able to play the game again I would suggest setting the option back to 1.
