Run Out of Mirrors Workaround
« on: February 11, 2005, 12:08:59 pm »
Ok, I\'ve researched this problem and have found that the updater is trying to download the file updater1023.zip to update it\'s self.
The server has no such file.
The latest one there is updater1022.zip

But I found a sneaky little way of updating the files without updating the updater this may get some of you over the hump.

In updaterconfig.xml their is a line that reads
Code: [Select]
1

If you change this line to read:
Code: [Select]
0

It will update you PS files without trying to update the updater right now.

If you notice though the selection is recomended so once you are able to play the game again I would suggest setting the option back to 1.

Edit:

Once you have updated you PS files you will not be able to just click on the updater because the updater is still looking for the old dlls this will cause the Updater to crash.

What you will need to do next time you need to update is go to

Start > Run
and type in
Code: [Select]
C:\\progra~1\\planes~1\\updater --auto
(Replace C:\\progra~1\\ with whereever you have PS installed if you did not use the default location.)

This will run the updater in text mode.  and if you have chaged the updater_MD5 field in the xml back to 1 it will attemp to download the updater again.

Hopefully by that time they will have the new updater ready for download.

updaterconfig.xml should be in your planeshift installation folder.
You can always start a search in your os.
Edit the file with notepad (or any other editor you prefer)
In my updaterconfig.xml it\'s line 14

Another option

You can also try this:
Download from http://circleoflegends.dotgeek.org/updater.zip and save disk.Open your PS folder and delete updater.exe.
Extract the zip to the same spot you just deleted and overwrite your files. It should work normally from the start menu PSUpdater.

EDIT: Sorry I keep forgetting not everyone knows zip files are for windows only in general..this \"fix\" is for Windows PS problems.

The new updater, updater1023.zip is back on the server, just so people know. You may want to try updating your updater now... (i.e. changing that line back to the way it was before).
