This is your browser trying to display the PS binary as text file. You need to use the \"rightclick -> save as\" feature.

Exactly.

Furthermore, instead of posting a new post without a reply from someone else between, EDIT your posts! On this subject, remove at least most of the garbage from the first post, as it disfigures the layout. Fewer will server well enough as exampla of what\'s happening.

Edit: DOS is an ancient OS that is incompatible with windows, hence the program will output this message if you try to run it in DOS. You\'re looking at the program, not executing it, so you\'re not getting any error, just garbage.

You click on \"edit\" in the first post, and then delete the junk as if it were text.

I edited my post to include the answer to your DOS question. It\'s not important, though.
As I said: right-click on the link, not left-click. (right mouse button, not the left one!). A menu will appear, and you will select \"save link as...\" or something like that. Then you\'ll select a location to save to and hit \"save\".

to answer your first question. it is the secret language of computers, not to be read by any human. two well dress gentlement in black will be by to erase your memory of this event.

and second. yes \"save as\" rather than \"open\".

oops ignore the second bit. it looks like someone beat me to it

For the last time: DON\'T add another post right under one of yours. Also, I\'ve already said that there is no DOS, and that this is of no importance.

Seeing your troubles downloading this software I am inclined to advise you to stop right now, because PS is in very early development. It\'s far from being complete, and also has many bugs. It\'s meant for people who know quite a bit about computers, and, without wishing to insult you, you don\'t seem to know much.

Therefore my advice: either read up on computers or look for another game, because otherwise PS will be an endless series of frustration to you.

However, since you managed to clean up your first post, there might be hope.
So I assume you\'re using Internet Explorer?

Alright. I would be recommending a new browser, but this isn\'t a good idea, simnce it\'d need to be downloaded. ;)

However, I know that the \"save as\" feature does work, even on IE. We need to make sure that you actually do what you need to do.

After clicking with the right mouse button on the link once, and selecting \"save target as...\", it should show a window asking where to save the file. does this happen, or does it go to displaying junk immediately? If it doesn\'t show that window, you should try to reboot in order to clean the environment. However, you will loose the download and have to re-download.

Therefore, we should try this using a smaller file, like the little test tool from the download page. However, the server seems to be down currently, at least I cannot connect to it.

Therefore, you should try this link. It\'s a mirror site, but should work exactly as the main site.

Congrats!
Make sure to read the threads about updating. They have become quite comprehensive, albeit a bit unorganised. If you are using Win 95 Win 98 or Win ME, you need to read them because there are specific problems with these versions. The updater is also broken, look out for threads / posts mentioning \"-auto\", that\'s what you\'l be needing.

Good luck!
