idea on the death realm

I did a forum search but cou\'ld\'nt find anything similar.

Since the death realm is still under construction, i had an idea about it recently.

Is there going to be more then one spawning point?

so there would be a spawning point wich takes you to either Hydlaa or Ojaveda or another location.

Another idea but i don\'t know how difficult it would be to implement.

A random spawning point! Meaning when you have found the exit you won\'t know where you end up. It could be back in Hydlaa plaza, or anywhere else in the game. Say in the midst of the wildlands, ojaveda, or any other location. see it as a little extra penalty or a practical joke from the gods.

maybe if the spawn points were normally specific and only randomly random...then it really could be the gods having a laugh at you...though i think the the specific spwans(one to ojaveda etc.)is already planned

i don\'t think that you should be able to choose your spawning point...

i can imagine people in hyplaa plaza: \"hey, please kill me...i want to go to ojaveda...\"

might start using it as a shortcut :P



i think you should spawn the nearest of your death site...
if you die at city -> hyplaa plaza
if you die at ojaveda -> near blacksmith (or elsewhere)
if you die near magic shop -> inside magic shop


there could be a small chance (10% should be nice) that you could spawn elsewhere (a random between all spawn points)...

I think it is okay if you can choose your exit spawn point IF the entry spawn points are randomized. IE you cant say where you appear in the DR after your death.  Remember  the DR is planed to become nearly as big as the liiving realm.
IMO either exit or entry of the DR needs to be randomized, And i believe the entry the better choice. You stumbled through the labyrinthic DR sneaking or fighting to find the an exit gate and it puts you somewhere? I think it is better for player nerves and fun to have the exits stably binded to LR places. Its much easier to cope with if PS puts you somewhere directly after the death, than after an exhaustive journey.

There should be different portals in the death realm that take you to different places, because I hate dying in Ojaveda and having to spend half an hour running back. Plus, with my luck ill try and climb over a hill to make a shorcut there and I will fall to the bottom of the hill and die...creating even more time to get there.

But it would be bad for quests that make you travel in between cities, because a player could just kill themself and go to the other town, do the quest in 5 minutes, and get the reward for doing almost no work.

It has its good and its bad sides

That\'s why the random option would be the best imo

The chance of getting even further away from you\'re objective should disencourage abuse of the death realm

Here\'s a thought I had only moments ago, so forgive me if it\'s not fully formed.

Why not have multiple spawn points in both realms? Each Life Realm spawn point would have a corresponding Death Realm spawn point. When you die, you spawn in DR nearest the portal which takes you to the LR spawn point nearest your point of death. If you really want to do so, you could make for a different portal, but such a journey should be at least as difficult as the equivalent journey between LR spawn points. In addition, each DR exit portal could have a small (for the sake of argument, let\'s say 5%) chance of sending you to a different LR spawn point, chosen at random, just to make life (and death) more interesting.

Any thoughts, comments or refutations? Discuss amongst yourselves... :]

Well, my wish was to have a choice of 3 doors when exiting DR which would allow all players to chose between going to different points -- one of Hydlaa, one for Ojaeda and one for Bronze doors.     As to people using DR as a quick trip to a certain, point that is already occuring.   It is a long walk for anyone to or rom Hydlaa and Akkaio.    The enkis use DR to get back to Akkaio and the others use DR to bet back to Hydlaa.   Also the DR is a great place to practice dueling since one does not have to go far after dying.     As to people asking someone to kill them, one only needs to use /die to get their wish now.

But then DR is not being treated with much respect I suppose.   I suppose one who enters one day could somehow be delayed getting out until the next game day.   Or perhaps the penalty for dying be a lost of trias or loot.

Perhaps a random spawn if you suicided, a race spawn if you died from falling/dueling, and a choice spawn if you died by other means (e.x. monsters, although things like open pvp would fall under here too).

Remember that the Death Realm is not just a "spawn"! :) It has quite the intricate backstory, inhabitants, and its own "rules." To concentrate on it as an exit alone is to miss 90% of its purpose.
