When I was reading draklar\'s post I couldn\'t help but think of wc3. :D

---Loading Resident Evil Map---
Map Starts
Kramy picks Demolitions.
Kramy: Runs around shooting zombies and collecting items.
Kramy joins group at center of map.
Other Guy starts shooting Kramy.
Kramy: uhh?
Other Guy: You got bit by a zombie!
Kramy: No I didn\'t...
Kramy runs away and drops a claymore.
Other Guy dies when a zombie gets too close.
Kramy comes back.
Other Guy says \"AHH, KRAMY IS A TK!!1\".

Other Guys 4 and 6 start shooting Kramy.
Kramy drops a satchel and runs.
Other Guys 4 and 6 stand on satchel.
Kramy blows up satchel.
Other guys 4 and 6 die.

Other Guy 5 says \"OMG THAT GUY JUST KILLED 3 PPL\"
Other Guy 5 starts shooting Kramy.
Kramy shoots other guy 5.

Other Guys 2,3, and 7 start shooting Kramy.
Other Guy 3 drops chain explosives as a trap.
Kramy Uses RPG on other guys 2, 3, 5, 7, and the chain explosive.
Other guys all die.

Kramy gets flamed for a while.
Kramy runs around map killing zombies and not dieing.
Everyone else leaves.
Kramy keeps playing for a couple hours.
---Kramy wins map---

Rather lame rp\'ing, eh?

Well, with that said, I have to agree with you - powergamers don\'t tend to ruin games. After all, what\'s worse?

\"Greetings noble merchant from the great city of Ojaveda, what brings you to our humble bar?\"
--Powergamer walks away

\"Greetings noble merchant from the great city of Ojaveda, what brings you to our humble bar?\"
--Other guy says \"I aam gere to suck yer blud!\"
--Other guy says \"Sllurp suck suck slurp....\"

Duh. :P

I agree. If they want advice, then ask the advisors...that\'s why we\'re here. If they want money, then kill rats...loot them and steal their stuff
The hunt is on, but what do I hunt? I hunt those that would desturb the peace.

Draklar, would we who want to role play be able to find you.

As for the vampire lunatics, hell I would not want to be biten by one of those with bad dirty broken teeth, probably end up getting rabish or some horrid disease.

Rather keep a fair distance from them.

I\'m not sure whare I fall into these different player types...

I enjoy the rping and getting into a charactor I spent a great deal of tome in the charactor creation screen giving Ghirtek an interesting history.

At the same time I enjoy the comidiac aspect the \"rat-flail guy\" can bring to the table (my first encounter in D&D I was a cleric and created water over the head of a gobblin in our firs encounter)  But the ones who are non stop at it tend to get annoying.

At times in the game I don\'t feel like talking to anyone and move into more of a Powerleveler mode.

I will be the first to admit i have trouble staying in charactor I will often make comments about the interface of the game or a relating website or forum... But sometimes it\'s easier to make just talk about tings in RL rather than trying to find a way of molding it into the IC world.

[about the vampires: I am pretty nutural they seem to be fading into the background and secracy like you would expect them to I haven\'t heard to much talk about them in the past few days and that\'s just fine]

Well I agree that roleplaying badly or immaturely is worse than not RPing at all, but one has to learn some where and most are not an expert of RP when they start.  Give them a chance and advice.

To them we need to give ways to grow better.  One such way might be compiling a list of meanings and correct usage of shakespearean era words and phrases.  And Draklar, seeing that you have extensive knowledge in the area it might be a good idea to do this; I know that I would be gratefull as I am not knowledgeful in that area myself.

Those who continue their childish ways or have no desire to learn correct RPing, though are a different type altogether.  It is they who annoy or ruin the atmoshpere, not out of ignorance but out of not caring, and it is they who are the bane of RP.

Best option:  Don\'t go on vampire hunts.

Just get white coats.

I felt the need to make a post quickly, I lead Darkhaven and id just like to set the record straight.

We have no real intention of doing anything like going around saying \"OMG we\'re l33t vamps who can keel you!!!\". Just intend to RP the part as best we can, as for the tavern thing that was before DH was set up so I cant really comment on it.

And to Seperot, if you\'d care to read the website rather than try to cause problems you\'d see in the bloodlines section there are no Kran listed. DH accepts even the non vampiric as members because although it is a vampire society it is deeply rooted in protecting each other and aiding each other, inevitably that means we are quite diverse meaning there are indeed a couple of kran in the willing aids/feeds section although of course they fall under aid seeing as they have no blood.

Personally ive never bitten anyone in the tavern, went upstairs to the bedrooms, and to my knowledge and incident like the one being reffered to hasnt happened since DH was formed. If I am wrong about that then apologies but I can only go on what I know.

Edit: Oops nearly forget something, yes we are going slightly more secretive now but will still be open about the subject to anyone who asks, the post in the guild forums was simply to let people know we are here

Discusions about vampires could be heard in tavern long time after DH was created. Just because you weren\'t present in the discussions doesn\'t mean you aren\'t responsible for them. Just like when you leave fire in forest, it just might be your fault that it burnt down after you left.
Although ever since I found the members list of DH I can\'t say I worry about it. For example I can see a local idiot (guy who talks about weed or breakdancing in tavern), another is pseudo-roleplayer and the kran bit is just too much.
Despise feeding on life of other creatures (I don\'t think I would remain sane in such situation...) and generally being outcasts, you still have strength to not get corrupted by your power and protect those from whom you get nothing in return. Not to mention you can\'t possibly give more protection to Blitzers\' member than his guild. Rather bring more troubles because of hanging out with looneys who drink others\' blood.
Sounds to me like the reason to join as well as accept it wasn\'t exactly roleplaying.
So it doesn\'t sound very serious to me, I expect it to fade away with time.

Jackrum: At right times tavern seems to hold a nice bunch of roleplayers. Knowing people who roleplay usually helps. For example when you see Naitachal and Sarrow alone in tavern, it is a good idea to slowly back off.

Kwip: I\'m not perfect with it either. Like you can see me making a mistake by using \"thee\" in the log.

Sep, you\'re not fooling anyone. ;) You don\'t mind vampires, you never have. You even had one (me) in your guild and praised how well her history was written. Suddenly you think vampires are the worst thing to ever have happened, and there can only be one reason for that- a childish one indeed.

So, let\'s leave the whole \'vampire debate\' out of this thread, or it will take over the whole thing. Consider it OT for this discussion.

Back on topic from now. :)

Jackrum: The tavern is always the best place to look for roleplayers. The plaza is undoubtedly the worst, but, there can be some there sometimes. The trick is to RP-greet everyone to see and see how they respond... Roleplayers are more likely to /greet you and talk than others. :)

Sarrow is one of the rat-flail guys.
It would be easier to say who belongs to that group as the number of them is lesser.
I would point out people like Tasuja, Sarrow, Naitachal or Crowdown/Berbodar. There were more but luckily they vanished after a while.
