We have a problem here..
« on: February 23, 2005, 02:43:59 am »
Ok.. so here i am, not even 1 hour into the game, and I\'m already being harassed by power tripping admins.

I was looking at MSN for a moment and I return to the game to find some admin in front of me .. with me buried in the ground and them telling me they will ban me if i keep ignoring them.

I setup a guild called \"MTNDEWBUZZ\" ... which is my website http://mtndewbuzz.com and everything my friends and fellow gamers know me by ... and for some reason your power tripping admins seem to think its nice to burry my friend and I in the ground, while we were completely minding our own business and start telling me to change my guild name and quit ignoring them or i will be banned. Banned?? I said to your admin \"You ever think i was doing something else other then looking at my chat box?? And they respond \"You ever think of being polite??\" ??????? Your freakin kidding me right? Some random person walks up to me telling me they will ban me if i don\'t respond to them .. and I\'m the one not being polite? Uhhh, Yeah! Then This admin says \"MTNDEWBUZZ is unacceptable\" .. Excuse me? Whats unacceptable about a real website and guild name thats Ive used for many years?

Of course, I didn\'t change my guild name because there is nothing wrong with that name. If your going to allow user to create any guild name but have some unspoken restrictions on them. Then you better do some fancy coding & database work and deny guild names you don\'t allow while people are trying to create them. As far as I\'m concerned thats my clan name ... and somehow its unacceptable. What makes MoonStrike any different then MtnDewBUZZ? I mean .. lets get serious here.

I just want to stop bye and post and explain.. Your game will not go very far with this ridiculous behavior from your admins or whoever did this to me. I didn\'t even get a chance to play the game or understand it before i was already kick from the server for not changing my guild name from \"MTNDEWBUZZ\" and told i was rude. Rude because i walked away from some random player that i didn\'t know from a hole in the wall?

Unbelievable!!

Thats like me kicking people off my website or game servers for having a ANY clan name. I wouldn\'t get much traffic on my servers, and people tend to not play on servers where admin are abusive for no reason.

Thanks to the little sport who banned me because they have nothing better to do then walk around a harass players that are completely minding their own business and learning the game for such petty and silly reasons.

I hope you can sit down the kids and explain to them how to admin a server without hindering players and clients. Seriously.. I run my servers for free as well. Have been for many years. I operate about 10 servers on a 100mbps connection. I\'m not some stupid kid here..

I just wanted to give the heads up. I felt like i was totally treated like crap for one of the most petty things Ive ever heard!

Heres what i found --

\"Guild names should be unique and well thought out. That short few words is what a potential recruit will first see and if they do not like the name they may overlook the guild completely.\"

Well. My name is unique and well thought out for sure. I bought the damn domain. We don\'t mind if recruits don\'t like the name. I\'m only recruiting friends and they all seem to enjoy the name and get in it.

Show me the \"alternate\" guild name rules page please.

Thanks!
Appreciate it!

Welcome to Planeshift.

The devs are not at the financial mercy of the players. Inappropriate names to the setting of the world are not tolerated.

Your options are

1) Accept it
2) Leave

You did not pay for this service. They owe you zero - their rules, champ.

I just read my own post and saw how rude and abrasive it was.

Apologies. I\'ll clarify:

Planeshift has a few philosophies behind it, and one is the focus on roleplaying and the atmosphere. Player names and guild names have to fit the setting, so they don\'t \"break\" the illusion.

It\'s not an all out attack on you and your creativity, it\'s more a request that you abide by the guidelines. And as for where it was written about your guild names, a GM just told you about it. Strangely enough, 99% of people figured out that for themselves, but there are still enough to give GM\'s a headache.

I like the first post better... Oh well. Dead thread.

Another time, try to use that thing on your neck for thinking. Did you honestly believe that anyone would want to let you call a guild here \"SomethingICantEvenPronounceBezz\"? I mean, come on. You could at least have called it the fellowship of the fingerring or something. At least that\'s creative... Oh well, I hope you get what I\'m saying. New name or no name. Your choice.

This is a medieval fantasy game, not Hackerd00dz.com, so kindly keep the spirit going, and stay in that universe, or better yet, go poison L2 or WoW with those kind of nonsense accusations, because we couldn\'t care less about you here.

. <-- The worlds smallest violin, playing a sad tune just for you.

Closed.

P.S. The GMs do their job just as they\'re supposed to. :)
