Incorrect version problem
« on: February 26, 2005, 03:59:00 pm »
When I try to connect to the Laanx server now I simply get a message saying I have the incorrect version of planeshift for the server. Assuming this means I have to update the version I run the updater programme but when I do so the updater refuses to run giving a message that it has to close.
I am wondering what I should do next.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Ok, sorry for the post, I found the updater in another forum. But here is the problem, I downloaded it and used it, but still nothing. I get the same error of incorrect version. Could this be that the server is offline? If so, shouldn\'t it give me a different error?

Which version do you have? If it\'s 0.3.006 and you run the updater from the symlink, you are affected by a bug in the updater script which has been fixed a while ago. Go to your PS dir and run it from there one to get the updated client.

Back to Planeshift again \\o/

No, I am running the 0.3.007 one. It\'s the one I got from the downloads ant planeshift.it. I run the updater, and it does both updates, but it just doesn\'t work. I don\'t really understand you last sentence, though.

Try running the updater with the --auto parameter. Just open the settings of the shortcut and add one SPACE and then --auto behind the target.

edit: Wait, are you using Linux? Well, I think Karosh is saying that you should place the updater in your PS dir, else the updater will place the files in the wrong directory.
And be more informative, you confuse me :) Are you using Linux or Windows? Did you use --auto?

Ok, I am using Linux Mandrake 10.0
I have the updater in the PS directory. I\'ll see what happens if I add the --auto part.

Edit: I used --auto after ./updater (./updater --auto). Nothing seemed different, and I get the same thing.

Ah, Linux.
Well, did you use the installer on the planeshift.it website? If you did, try Karosh\'s installer, it might work better. http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=13494&boardid=33&sid=26ac0bce0a976aaf8a4cf3b57981b769

I downloaded it, and installed it, still doesn\'t work. Updated it, and also used the updater posted in these forums somewhere, still nothing. I am really dissapointed...

That\'s because recently there was an update for Planeshift. Karosh now has to recompile the installer for linux with the latest code. Just be patient. A new updater will be available soon, but Karosh is waiting until the \"the server dropped us\" bugs are gone.
