Crashing on load-up

Well, several people are having the issue of the client crashing when they go to load the plaza.  Has anyone found a fix to this yet?

Then I started up the game by doing this in the terminal:

     cd /Applications/PlaneShift\\ 3D/psclient.app/Contents/MacOS

     /Applications/PlaneShift\\ 3D/psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient

-I did thid 2 steps by drag and dropping the files into the terminal window.

4. Ingame I choosed the Laanxserver and my Char and it loadet without any crushes:)

I tried a complete reinstall as Hally did.  I still can\'t get on.  Am I the only one?

Bummer, tonight would be a great night to play since I hate the Oscar Awards...

EDIT: Now I\'m getting a segmentation fault right as the plaza loads.  ANy ideas?

Welcome to the club Buddha. I was having this issue before the update, and I still am. :\\ A complete reinstall does nothing regardless of which updater I use or whether I run from terminal or double-click. Cursed segmentation fault!!!

Well, it\'s good company then.  I\'ve tried a few things, including a complete re-install.  Nothing yet.

If there are a few of us, then at least it\'s not my machine.  Also, it\'s happening to people who know their way around a command line, so one of us should figure it out eventually.

I noticed that after the most recent update, libcal3d.10.dylib is no longer in Contents/Resources.  I\'m not sure what that means.

I started  having trouble abou 10 minutes ago appox at 2030 hrs.  I\'m in time zone GMT -6, or CST in US.  Don\'t know why I put that there.  Just FYI.

I\'l save the crash report should anyone want it.

Initially the game froze up on me and I had to force quit.  Then when I restarted, I had graphic problems with multiple cursor so odd behavior with Chat window, Shortcuts, and Status window coming up on top of load screen.  When all was said and done, I was in Deathsville.  And I froze up again and then game crashed.

It could be that versions of CS data files in the updater are out of sync in the updater, or it could be bad maps, or it could be something else entirely.  I\'m not quite sure what version they currently have available in the updater...

I think the problem I had at 2030Cst was caused by lag.  The router in my house was pretty busy at that time and on occasions will not pass packets.  I hate my router.

Just to to let you know.  I restarted had similar problems at beginning but didn\'t freeze up afterwards and was on again for an hour or more?  It did crash on me again however upon entering the plaza and vistiting a trainer.

As for everything else, my hats off you Dfryer.  The updater is working fine, I\'ve run it acouple times already from the term and it checks and updates like a champ now.  Can\'t wait to use it on .3009.  :)

I finally got in the Plaza. I done it by running through the terminal :
Type :

cd
then drag your planeshift 3D folder here. Hit return.
Type :

./updater.app/Contents/MacOS/updater
So the updater launches itself. Update it and wait (you will get a pretty heavy load of lines in the terminal. Then click \"Exit\".
After, type :
Code: [Select]
./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient
So it loads ! Log in with your account and select your character. Join. It loads successfully. Enjoy the view.
But here is the problem : I can\'t move ! The application is launched through the terminal, and does not appear in the dock ! So I quitted and I tried to do that (because I couldn\'t double-click to run it) :

chmod 755 psclient

But it didn\'t worked.

The Double cursor problem you can solve with opening the planeshift.cfg file and turn

Video.FullScreen = false
 to
Video.FullScreen = true

When Chat-Window is active (Cursor blinks), you cant move. Maybe its that.

Hrmm... Drfryer, if you could post a new full binary I\'d like to try that. I don\'t think it has to do with the PS install itself, per say, but I\'m starting to wonder what\'s wrong (if you got my crash log and terminal log you\'ll note that there are no errors in PS... :\\ ).

My Observations regarding the bug...

It appears to only be in the plaza because another character I created and have in Akk-Central is just fine.  No crashing with this one.  But every time I try and start up the character I\'ve been working with lately, crash city.  That character is currently unplayable.

Previous to Buddha\'s posting of this thread I had no problem and so I blame him.  :)

Of course, I\'m kidding.

But really, I wasn\'t having any problems until... after a long absence from the game and then a very long session this past Sunday, the 27th of Feb, everything seemed ok.  I did a massive amount of training and practicing and chatted quite abit with a guild I joined.  I know this isn\'t a problem associated with just Macs because my Guild mates where having the same problem.  And I\'ve read some current posts about this on the other side.  This leads me to believe if the problem is associated either one of these issues:

1.  Location as mentioned before:  the Plaza.
2.  Character related.  What if the accrual of data reaches a certain point with a character (or combination of online characters) that it affects the connection between server and client?


Tonight, I ran the updater and saw that new items were being downloaded.  Once on, I noticed the rather cool 3D spin of the character selecter.  This was cool by the way.  But unfortunately, as I was pressing on the buttons to give all the characters a spin, the client crashed again.  So maybe....

3.  The problem is somewhere else and I should just shut up :)
