« on: March 05, 2005, 08:07:48 pm »
I see alot of player lost in the road of akkaio, i know that some race will have got the nocturn vision but for the other and just for the night became more beautiful it was very cool if they are some flowerswho doing light or or other plants and also tree luminous, a lot of people can see in it in the night and stand neaar this place for the come back of light :)

i think its was very beautiful to see luminous natural in the night and i think it\'s fantasy and  original for light   ;)

How about  fire flies or glow worms or some other glowing bioluminescent critter?  Did I not see sparkles in some magic cloud/fog cast in the sewers recently?

Looked like fire flies in the fog for me. Its kind of pretty too - though deadly ;)

Maybe some places could have nature fenonema, like marsh gases that light up a swamp and theirs things like bolt lightning. Nice eyecandy (:

Both nice ideas Willen and Azerelus. Unfortunatly proberly not on the devs priority list but some day!

That may be a nice thing to add. Indeed it would be very romantically. And these plants may also have a good reason to be luminous: insects. Just like ordinary plants attract insects by their colourful flowers, liminous plants may do the same during night, especially because insects tend to fly towards light anyway. Alternatively, they might be carnovorous plants, attracting the insects to eat them: the glowing part of the plant wold be sticky.

Someplace where they \'cant\' stop ? - LOL

That is a nice 3d structure, a \"natural\" street lamp - cool.

How about a longish filament with an over sized anther, it would be the anther that glows.

In case you don\'t know what those are, click here for parts of a flower

Or a cluster of anthers/filaments like in this image of a tulip  There are 6 anthers.

These would be like \"light bulbs\" the light source. The flower petals would be the light shade - imagine a red flower glowing red and shedding a reddish light around and upward, with your bio-luminance glow brighter and directly down. The translucence of the flower would be something like this one: Back lit flower petals Note how where each petal over laps there is less light coming through.

If the player looks up when underneath there are bright points of light where each anther is.

I think they should be small. The size of a tulip at most, or at least the light emitting parts should be small.

I imagine

1) small plants, like daisies, that have glowing heads
2) small plants, like a Venus\'s flytrap, whose leaves glow
3) a bush or tree that has luminous flowers.

The natural streetlight looks too much like a parody to be seriously considered IMO.
