Okay, I've got a problem with logging in.
« on: March 06, 2005, 01:39:00 pm »
Whenever I click the \'OK\' button to log in, it freezes and I have to restart my computer. I have ran the updator 3 times, and I\'ve tried and tried to log in, but it\'s never worked. Help!

No error message?

Are you logging in to the Laanx server? Not the local host.

The Laanx Server usually has numbers with it. the Local Server usually has \"fail\" next to it. If the Laanz Sever says fail, that means its down.

Are you certain its freezing? I note that with my system sometimes it takes forever for a region to load or even the log in screen to load, it appears to \'hang\' for a while at different pages.

Try this:

Go to C:/Program files/Plain Shift/plain shift set up.

Make certain that the resolution is set to your computer screen, That you are runing on a decent depth for your system (I personally prefer 32 bit) Leave the rest alone unless you know what you re doing ;)

DO NOT put it on Full Screen, keep it windowed. Click on launch then wait. If it appears to hang or freeze, look at the window box title (Plainshift Crystal blue(0.3.007)) See if it also says \"Not Responding\"

Also when you start the game look at the numbers of the title.  The latest (as of 6 March 2005) with the updater should give you the following numbers:

\"Plain Shift Crystal Blue (0.3.007)\"

Are you certain you have entered the right password? Are using your email address not just your user name?

Are you certain that the server is up and running?

BTW If the site is down then the game is down. Meaning if you get the infamous \"The page cannot be displayed\" it means the server is down.

It could be something else: Here is the FAQ section that may be helpful:

Try the trouble shooting: Trouble shooting (that is on the same FAQ page, just direct linked for you.

Thank you! i\'ll try all of these until one of them works. ONe reason was probably that I was doing Full Screen. Oops. And thanks a whole lot for the help.

When I tried logging in this time, it made everything big and dis-colored, and then Plane Shift stopped responding, and i got this message: \"The ati2dvag display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality.\" And then it said some other stuff. Help!!

Looks to me as though you need some new GFX drivers.

I\'ve got a simliar problem, or at least I think I do. I just installed PS on Linux (Ubuntu) and when I try to log-in PS exits and I\'m back at the desktop. Not sure if I need graphics driver though, i just updated them a week or two ago.
