More time before Maintenance?
« on: March 06, 2005, 08:25:43 pm »
I just got a 1 minute warning - nothing else before closing the system to fix bugs. This happened before and I thought it was that I wasn\'t paying attention.

Maybe 5 minutes warning would be better?
timing it it takes at least 1 minute to kill a rat (defensive attack, fists)

How about a 5 minute warning and a one minute warning in future - that way people can finish a battle and loot before the system shuts down.

Thanks

I think a 10 minute countdown would be much more suitable.

I think there should be a 5-10 min count down in the corner. It also should be in big or bright(or both) letters so that people notice it. Then it would warn with a beep or something at 30 seconds left of so.

Why not 30 mins to slay 3 Teffies in the arena, walk back to the plaza and sell their teeth before the server goes down? :P
This game is still in alpha stage and therefore you can\'t expect too much comfort ;)

Back to Planeshift again \\o/

Say hey, that idea is even better than mine - I would never have thunk to ask for that much time ;)

Depends on the patch and situation.  If it\'s a normal ( ie non critical patch ) then can wait for a while.  But if it\'s something that is important ( ie can prevent crashes or fixes some critical issue ) then less time is available.  Also there are cases where we are testing some things so server could be up and down a lot in a short time.  We try to avoid those and mention in the IRC channel about that but doesn\'t reach everybody.
