You may find the following description at the Tayledras website (which still needs a bit of work) here:
http://www.wildeggplant.com/planeshift/tayledras/index.htmlThe Tayledras PhilosophyMembers of the Tayledras understand that magic is a gift that was meant to be used to enrich our lives. Tayledras does not have to be magic users, they only have to respect the use of magic. In a perfect world, magic would only be used for constructive purposes and would never be used to harm anyone. Unfortunately, Yliakum is far from perfect. Combat magic is often necessary to defend oneself and to defend those who cannot defend themselves. Tayledras accepts members of any of the different Ways, although followers of the Dark Way must be willing to abide by the Guild Code the same as anyone else. We understand that people of different races and backgrounds will follow different deities and we do not turn anyone away due to allegiance to a deity or lack thereof.
Tayledras History During a rather bleak period in our not-too-distant history, there existed a prejudice in certain areas against magic users and people who associated with magic users. Fortunately, this prejudice did not spread far and wide. But when those people who were driven from their homes by those who feared and hated them, they came to meet each other on the road and developed a fellowship that eventually led to the formation of the structured organization we know today. Before finding new homes where they could live in peace, the early Tayledras became very much in tune with the land and nature. That is why, today, many Tayledras are very knowledgeable in herbalism, nature lore, and communing with animals.
The Code * Be as active as possible.
* Do not attack the defenseless.
* Be respectful when speaking to others, both in public and in private. Do not dishonor the Taylendras name.
* Help your fellow guild members whenever possible, but be sure to only hint about quest details unless the person in need of assistance has been stuck for quite some time. Personal growth can only be achieved by personal experience. Being led by the hand helps no one in the long run.
* Use the guild channel when in need of assistance. Do not shout in public.
* We do not condone any war between guilds. If you must defend your honor with an individual, you may duel in private. But we will never declare war upon entire guilds.
* Do not bare arms in the tavern.
* When fighting as a member of a group, always roll for the loot. Do not take the loot for yourself unless every member of your group has agreed to it. It\'s only fair.
Ranks Apprentice: Entry level for all guild members before they establish their strengths so they may be properly placed into the advanced ranks. The main responsibility of every apprentice is to learn the ways of the guild from ranking members and to decide who they would like to emulate. The apprentice will also be responsible for recruiting other individuals who may be receptive to the Tayledras life. (1)
Scout: Scouts are primarily non-magic users with a focus on weapons and combat training. They are the first line of defense for the Tayledras and may accompany non-fighting Tayledras through hostile territory when travel is necessary. (2-6)
Laborer/Craftsman: There is no shame in working with one\'s hands. Laborers and craftsmen are vital to us all, for they are responsible for making sure we have the tools we need in our daily lives. Those with their own shops are encouraged, though not required, to give preferential treatment to fellow Tayledras. (2-6)
Mage: Mages will have chosen one or more of the six Ways to use magical energy for the good of the Tayledras and Yliakum as a whole. A mage should provide counsel to other mages and apprentices who express interest in the Ways as to the benefits or the various Ways and glyphs available. A Mage will assist the Scouts in travel through hostile territory with fellow Tayledras and provide Healing to fellow Tayledras when capable.(2-6)
Wisdom: A Wisdom is a non-magic user who has knowledge of herbs, alchemy, or other area, but who would not qualify as a Laborer or Craftsman. Those with their own shops are encouraged, though not required, to give preferential treatment to fellow Tayledras. (2-6)
Citizen: A Citizen is any Tayledras who has moved up from the rank of Apprentice but does not fit into the other above-mentioned ranks. Their role in the guild will be established on an individual basis. (2-6)
Master: Master is the level achieved when a Tayledras has been able to prove their worth to the satisfaction of the Council. A Master Mage may assign tasks to lesser Mages, a Scout Master may assign tasks to lesser Scouts, etc. This is a position of respect and responsibility. Masters are still accountable to the Council, so the rank should not be abused or the individual may be demoted. (7)
Council: Members of the Council are selected from among the Masters for their outstanding leadership ability and for modelling exceptional behavior for their fellow Tayledras. Ideally, the Council will consist of representatives from each of the lower ranks: Scout, Laborer/Craftsman, Mage, Wisdom, and Citizen. However, members will not be promoted to simply fill a vacancy. Council members must earn their position. (8)
Council Leader: The Council Leader is essentially considered first among equals, but every organization does need a figurehead. As the current Council Leader is also the founder of the modern Tayledras, the Council Leader can only be replaced if she chooses to step down. (9)
