They all are (overated) :/ EQ2 is the best of em imo.. WISH would have been.. but dont get me started on that X(

Id rather just wait for PS to get stuff i wanna play (crafting at  the very least)  then pay for something else i could care less about :P

(Actualy PS has gone from \"grow old waiting for an update\" to pretty steady stuff going on :D  )

i have never and will never pay to play a game online.
i guy game\'s and pay good hard earned money for them it\'s not right to have to pay for that game every month after you allready purchased it.
i honestly hope more people get it into there head\'s that if you don\'t pay for these online game\'s then more and more of them will become free. these company\'s make more than enough money to maintain these online game\'s from the purchase of the game they don\'t need to charge monthly fee\'s to maintain them.
see when you buy a game there are usually bug\'s in them and the company that sold you the game fix\'s them with patche\'s and upgrade\'s at no cost to the consumer because you allready paid for the product but with online gameing they now have a way to get you to buy thier game and then charge you to fix the bug\'s and then they add a few prek\'s into the game to keep the cattle happy. 8)
if man didn't take chance's the moon would still be made of cheese  8)

Well think of it this way. When you buy a game like Zelda the workers are done working on it and will be paid for all the time they already worked.
But, on a game like everquest, the devs have to keep working and the incom from game sales wont be enough to keep food on their tables. So, a simple fee of about 9 dollars a person is added so people can make money while they expand these games. Now, for games like guildwars I have no idea how the people keep getting payed. Im guessing it has to do with some form of advertising but still, they have to make less than the ones in p2p games do.  I persoally dont thik 8-15 buck is much to pay per month. Just dont go out to mac donalds twice in a month and theres the money you need for it. I would gladly pay that small fee to play a game but the thing is i would rater play ps and guild wars. And if I did want to play those games i would if i had my own credit card. My parants wont give out their # onlline cuz of identity theft issues in the past.

Imagine this way, GuildWars is sell at 50? and over 1 milion of people all around the world buy the game, thats equal to 50,000,000?. I dont know what do you think but its a huge amout of money and i think that with this money 30 people could feed theyr families for much time. But I know, must of this money doesnt go to the employes, it goes to the company that produces the game but i\'m sure the employes are well (and dont forgot the expansions that are released every 6 months!).
In games like WoW the same thing happen but only with a diference, u pay more 12? per month..

In my opinion the p2p is only justified in games were u can download the game free from internet but to play u need to pay.

Let\'s just take a game like World of Warcraft, which we all know. It\'s made by a company called Blizzard, which we all know. Now, World of Warcraft had a retail price of ?47 here in europe, which means the stores charge ?47 for a copy of WoW. Now, what we all know is that stores always charge much more than the production cost (CD machine slapping the game into a disc and packing it up - factory work... Not development costs). Now, these packs of 4 CD\'s are sent out to European shops in about 1,000,000 copies, that\'s approximately an income of.. Well, let\'s just be nice to Blizzard and say that they make ?50,000,000 like you said. That\'s a nice bit of money, but then again, let\'s take a look at the costs for making WoW.

200 developers - graphic artists, programmers, yadda yadda. Let\'s be generous and say that all these top of the line developers make ?10,000 per month, and we all know WoW took around 4 years to make, that already gives us a development cost of an amazing ?96,000,000 and all Blizzard has made on selling their one million copies is now reduced to... Well. Not much. Now, they also have to set up servers in their newly bought server parks, they have to maintain a group of probably around 50 developers to keep releasing patches for all you greedy people. That gives them even more costs, but this is where the monthly payments come in handy, because 900,000 (one million minus the 100,000 who think the game stinks and won\'t play it after the free month is up) that pay ?10 per month gives Blizzard ?9,000,000 per month to work with. After they pay for servers (~150 clusters at ~?10,000 each = ?1,500,000) and the developers (50 guys getting ?10,000 per month = ?500,000), they only just started making money. But as you can see, it is the monthly payments that make these kind of games profitable, compared to other games. But unlike other games, online games require much more service and it needs to be taken care of constantly... It\'s very, very hard work, and the companies don\'t always make as much money as you think. And again, if the game flops, then uh oh? :)

Please do remember that these numbers are fictive. They aren\'t the exact numbers that Blizzard gets, but they should be pretty close to the real ones.

Its a nice point of view what u\'ve made and i must agree with u in some aspects, but if WoW needs all that, how can a game like Guild Wars (GW) be made?
If I understood well, u sayd that all that things are needed to make a mmorpg and i dont have doubt of that. I only think that if a game like GW can be made without u pay a monthly tax of 12 ? WoW can be too.
And dont forget that many other ways of making money with a game (clothes, door-keys, toys, and a lot of other more).

GW will probably not have as many servers as games like wow with a monthly fee, nor will they feature as many updates, fixes or general service.

The monthly fee serves to pay the developers that spend their time updating the game, of course GW devs might have some other fancy plan for funding their updates, but I haven\'t heard of them so meh :P

From someone thats actually played Final Fantasy 11 steady and is still going hard at it. I would put my money down on that...You know why your friend is disheartened at 25, you have to change the area you lvl almost every 5-10 lvls and at 25 you have to go to kazham (A massive maze like jungle with very difficult mobs.) Before you can go there you have to do a quest for the Kazham Airship pass. You have to go around the world traveling to these 3 seperate beastmen layers fighting certain beastmen for the drop which isn\'t ultra rare but has a crumy drop rate. That is how I felt at lvl25 but I had enough sense to recruit 5 other people of my same lvl to go finish that quest.

Anyways to continue to represent here is one of my friends from the Linkshell aka. Guild I am in, its their fan site or rather a journal she makes like 3 times a day telling what she did ,where she went, and variuos screenshots.

Kimiko\'s Journal of FF11

Now this other screenshot of mine was taken few days ago for a in-game wedding. As you can see at the end the little taru with the blue thing over his head represents as a GM, the two standing together are getting married and the 3 other tarus are few of us from the linkshell. Not sure how many showed up for the wedding but it had to be around 30-40, they are big events and you can\'t just do it in a day or more less a week. You have to get a friend to contact the GMs letting them know about the engagement from there you have to put together money for renting the area to have a wedding and for each person attending, the special dress an wedding items and gifts you exchange with whoever you are marrying. When its all done an said you get rings made by the GMs showing who you are married to in the description. Then your moghouse which usually only you can go in is open to your mate and you (share). Yes its a process but amazing to say the least, so many want to get married do the player base but they pick who goes under a lottery, Kimiko the maker of that site finally got picked on the lottery for April 22nd.

So there you go just a small small bit of information that might sway you to the side of FF11. Lots of people diss it but once again they either can\'t do P2P or they played it at a friends house :P

Where my friends are, is where I am.. Currently they\'re in Anarchy Online, so that\'s where I am, although some have been swayed by the evil that is WoW, I believe I\'ll stick around AO until it goes down. Rumors of a new expansion is keeping me glued more to the screen than ever :P

IMHO gameplay has nothing to do with how addictive a MMORPG is - or at least very little - it\'s the people you interact with - you won\'t see many addict horror stories about someone who solos :)

P.S. Also why PS is the best - we have a superior community!

Well, it\'s simple. Additional content will be released in chapters, which will probably cost as much as the game. So you can pay and get additional content or be stuck with the basic stuff.
It reminds me of another game which I won\'t name..
