Updater Bug (Weird)
« on: March 29, 2005, 06:54:32 pm »
Ok so anyway.. i wake up today and I say to myself.. Im gonna fiddle a little with planeshift.. maybe find a bug or two to report. Well I found one indeed and without playing ontop of that as well.

- When I opened up my updater (Today is the 29th).. it said it had to go fetch files.. and let me remind you that my updater is already on 1.0.2.5 but it said it had a more current one..

- Downloads registry.. OK
- Says updating to another build. OK
- Does it do it.. NO NO NO

Instead i got a \"File Copy Error\" saying Couldn\'t copy file cspnging.dll! Says it cannot process because it was already accessed by somethingelse. (32) --END MSG--

Well g2g guys.. good luck

Noticed this as well, the problem is that the updater tries to update files it is using itself.

For me it helped to close the updater at just the right moment.

btw.. another question.
Most of the times when i update something, it says 10 or so files updated.. the rest \"merged\" and takes like 2 hrs to finish.. does everyone go through this or am i taking the long way.

It looks like the files updated are the ones downloaded from the server, merged ones are being unpacked, sort, collated, stapled, etc. So if you are on a slow connection, the first one will take longer, but the other step should take about the same amount of time for everyone.

Hi everybody,

i experienced the same problem. How i succeeded anyway?
I extracted the updater.zip into the planshift folder. and restared the updater. worked fine.
