When I want abandonware games, I use The Home of the Underdogs which is mostly a tribute to a lot of old games that didn\'t get the respect they deserved. Although now, they are free for download, so they can get all the respect they need to satisfy their lines of code beating way down in their...uhh...stuff. :P

I should really load Descent I & II on my box. (DIII kinda bit) Those were the only games that could make me fall off my chair.

Show of hands...who all tried to look around their monitor to see if that damn red missile bot was still there.

*raises hand*

Then there was Pagan, Ultima whatever. Trying to steal everyone blind without that one POS killing you. And finding all the glitches that made you fall into \'the black\'. And stuffing sacks into sacks into sacks, so you could carry more deathcaps.

And ahhhh...lets not forget about Magic Carpet. The good old days of being stung to death by hundreds of bees while desperately trying to build your castle. Too bad that won\'t run on my new PC. Loved that game.

And all the pixilated D&D RPGs.

Good times.

I highly reccomend you all get lords of magic!! it blew me out of my chair (well not literaly :P ) its very immersive and intricate and for the PS RP crowd its guaranteed to please (not to mention we could duke it out with each other.. 8) im the earth mage)

Long story short its like the \"Total war\" series + Age of Empires + Magic the Gathering + Dungeon Siege + good book  = Lords of Magic :D

You pick Warrior, Mage Or Thief

Then Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Life, Death(after you beat single player once), Order and Chaos.. they all have pluses (amazingly not very many if any minuses)

Plus thiers lots of story who you ally with and why.. what you trade with them (you can trade units and spells between elements)

i could go on for hours about what i played in 30 minutes worth.. so try it :)

I have used Daemon Tools in the past to emulate CDs on Win2K, I imagine it works on XP just as well.

On the subject of Abandonware, Master of Magic is one of the best games ever, definately my fav abandonware title. Its like Civ with a fantasy theme in a nutshell, but so much better than any of the Civs to date. If taking over a city with armies is too cliched, then blight their fields, smite them with earthquakes, volcanos, and fiery rain, and as a coupe de grace, turn them into ghouls and zombies to guard the city in death for all eternity, bwahahahah! Unleash death knights, wraiths, and demon lords upon your helpless foes! Send in the heavy hitting Black Knight with an unstoppable horde of regenerating War Trolls to rend the flesh of all who dare defy you! Forge unholy artifacts of eldritch power for your minions to enslave and slay in your dread name!

Ahh yes.. i am using earthquakes at the moment.. perhaps my Chaos allies will have a spell for me soon :D

This just goes to show that there WAS a time when devs cared about making the best game they could and closely researched, studied and listed to the players.. and making games from what they knew. If that could only happen again it would once again be a beautiful time to be a gamer :)

i think a PS LOM:SE tourny would (only expression that fits) \"R0xx0rz 0ur b0xx0rz\" as we all have free time we all love RP and we could forge alliences and live a great mystery and intrique.. just with spells and undead minions

Ahh yes I love these sites.  One of the great games is Quest For Glory 1: So You Want to Be a Hero?.  It\'s a RPG/Adventure from our old friends at Sierra (maker of the King\'s Quest series).  It is wonderful and great fun even if the graphics are era 1992 :D

Well, at the moment, I am downloading Lords of Magic to try it out. If it\'s any good, we could do a multiplayer, Foresteer. I\'ve been looking for something fun to do lately, and this might just be it. If you have any messengers or anything, PM me so I can add you. That way we can set up a time to play or something.

Lords of Magic.  I actually own that game.  :P
