Planeshift for Mac OS X Scrapped
« on: April 01, 2005, 05:22:52 pm »
I have just spoken to dfryer and I regret to inform you that the Planeshift for Mac OS X project has been scrapped. Due to difficulty getting Crystal Space to build correctly on OS X and do to personal reasons, dfryer is no longer able to work on the project. This is a sad day for all of us Mac users. If you\'re wondering what it is we should do now, all I can say is that we must pray that we can be lucky enough to encounter another such as dfryer willing to help us and that the Crystal Space team will be able to fix the Mac OS X build issues. Until then, farewell.

Oh, alright. \'tis only a joke. I apologize for any confusion it might have caused, but seriously, you can\'t trust anything on April 1. Except for GMail, that is.

As far as I know, dfryer is still working away. Unless he was abducted by aliens or has fallen off the edge of the earth, we should have a PS Mac version \"soon\"? .

No problemo, there ChaOs.  It\'s no big dealy bopper.

I\'ll check out that link sometime.

They\'ll probably let me in if I walk across a room on my knees through a field of broken glass.  :)

Since I\'m responsible for this, I offer to go in your place. It will be a test of pain endurance, but I think I can manage. It is the least I can do for causing all this trouble... :P

Again.  Its no big deal for me about the Guild or anything.  I\'m just interested in the program, I like it.  I also wish we were past this extremely big hole in the ground, metaphorically speaking, regarding this part of the  development phase and had a working client.  I\'m sure one will come about.

I was just a sucker for the fool\'s joke, I have to smile to mself and laugh.  I roll with it and go on.  I\'m not much of quild person anyway.  Beside this is beta testing an alpha development and I was just curious about Guilds so I was beta testing Guilds for my own personal knowledge.  No biggie.

So ChaOs, no big deal ok.  And everyone else too, no big deal.  Just picture in your head, someone who\'s just woke up and was farting around the Internet and decided to read some Planeshift forum and see the client for Mac was ready or not.  Picture this same person, me, who was sleepy, groggy and coffee deprived reading the April Fools post, not rememebering that the day was April Fool\'s day.  And you\'ll soon realize that I was a ripe for trickery in the spirit of the day.  I have no problems for that, I probably would have done the same thing.  I happen to like doing stuff like that too.  From time to time.

I\'m here for the long run, I\'d like to see the client come onboard for the Mac platform and I\'m eager to help in whatever way I can.  ChaOs I\'m sure feels the same way and even more so because he\'s actually written a Java program for the client at one time.  And I have to admint, this whole thing as gotten me more interested in learning C and I\'ve been doing so.

Okay, starting to sound like a blog now.

Bye and happy posting.

hey guys, i finally suscribe myself to this forum !!!!
Well, i really think that if mac people used the version 006 it will work on the server because some of french guys (like me) succeed to play at juanuary with the 006 version.

For myself i tried many configurations stupid trying to mix versions and i finish to have the 007 not runnig on the because of the bac version and the 006 juste showing the first image without doing the loading SO i would try with the 006 load but it can\'t

So try to mix it up ! or tell me how can i do to run 006 at least doing the loading

Thnx and thnx again to all your help everyones
Cya

Dang, that was funny :)  I didn\'t even think of doing it myself.

It was also believable, considering the lack of progress on the Mac front lately.  But, I really am involved for the \"long haul\", so rest assured that it will not be scrapped!

Current status is \"swamped by the end of term, and CS is crashing\" so no build in the next few days.
