Before the wipe...
« on: April 03, 2005, 02:24:45 am »
Before the wipe, a few more spells should be let out.  Even the new ones that came out are fairly pointless.  here are spell examples that should come out before the wipe:

1) Red Way  -  powerful damage spell.  It should be able to do like 60-80 damage at the highest levels in the red way and will.  This would also be a ranged attack.

2) Crystal Way  -  healing spell.  Hey check that out!  there is a picture on the site of someone doing a \"powerful healing spell\".  (not to be rude, sry if it came out that way.)  You should also be able to heal others.  the higher the level, the more you can heal.

3) Azure Way  -  Pulse Wave type spell.  It would be quick to cast, do a very small amount of damage, but would push everyone away from them.  The higher the level, the farther it would push people/enemies back.  (It should be able to push them quite far away at higher levels).

I think these 3 are kind of necessary to have any reason at all to be a mage.  focusing on being a fighter would still be a bit advantageous, but these would help out mages a bit and give them some reason to be in the game.

First for any of you wondering what gronomist meant is that I originally posted this in the general forum, so he moved it here saying that the general forum is the wrong place.

                  ----------------------------------------

So, do you players agree?  No matter what class you role play as, having more a mix of mages and fighters is good.  These 3 spells will Start to mix it up a bit, though there will still be more fighters.  I suggested only 3 because it seems like you devs don\'t want to release too many spells to make uber-wizards/mages.  I think these 3 are kind of necessary, so what does everyone think?

Great spells! I do really like the pulse wave spell. It would really help mages if they needed to run away.

Let me get this straight.  you are fighting a warrior(who shall be known as humpty) on a hill, you use the pulse spell, and he falls and dies.  That would be hillarious.

ps I must mention there is a conflict with the release dates of things such as this.  True, the game would be more interesting in the magic aspect of things if certain spells were not told of there abilities and maybe how to acheive.  However, if this were to happen, then the spells could be glitched and after all we are TESTERS.  Unfortunately, many players without question will make help  sites and reveal thier uses along with many other things like quest solutions.  This gives  a benefit to them that TRUE players do not receive.   Here is where the conflict lies.

Not exactly any original ideas here. Check spell wishlist threads, I\'m sure there\'s a tonne out there already.

my point is not the originality of these spells.  It is to implement them before thw wipe (or ones fairly similar) to give mages something to work for and create a little more of a balance between wizards and fighters.

Agree the mages are underpowered atm, but have to agree with Moogie that I don\'t really see what this adds to the discussions here. I mean the devs just implemented new spells so they are obviously trying to get more ingame. That they weren\'t the ones you wanted most is something else.

I really don\'t care that much what the spells are exactly.

One should do a lot of damage at high levels, so magic can be used on monsters proficiently.  There should be a couple more decent spells like these.  I talked to a few people in-game and these types of spells popped up in discussions the most.  I think they are the basis of spells being
cleric spells (healing and spells like that)
warlock spells (strong damage-dealing spells)
and illusionist (sneakier or handy-to-have spells)

Spells are one of the many things that are being improved at the moment. Being a mage myself I\'d like more spells to be made availiable and mages to be more playable.
