What happened to the pub?
« on: April 09, 2005, 03:17:45 am »
I admit that I don\'t go on planeshift as much as I used to since the item glitch but whenever I check the pub is always empty, and yet you always see crowds of players at the plaza chatting.

My point: people don\'t goto the pub anymore, now it\'s no longer a pub, it\'s merely another building in a big world :(. Now i\'m not complaining about the collapse of our once great community, this is simply a plee to all to try and use the pub more often, to me wee need it to boost the roleplaying factor in the game.

It\'s my personal opinion that sitting in the tavern all day does not equal RP. ;)

Some people who chat in the Plaza do roleplay, but admittedly alot of them just troll around OOC-like (Sarrow, Azerus and the guild Civil Containment come to mind here).

It was the place rp\'ers went to escape ooc people. The rp\'ers eventually gave up and thus the end of the tavern. :(
Im usually there when im in cb or out exploring.

Remvak, I\'ll make ya a deal. And anyone else out there. Minus real life getting in the way, I\'ll buy the drinks sunday night! (6ish to whenever PM, MST, 4/10/05) And just in case I can\'t make it... well... this post is preaty near the top... let\'s see who else can show up that night! Be nice to meet some of the forum members I haven\'t seen in the game yet. So start thinking up some stories and what not. And while your at it, grab a newbie and bring em. I wish someone would have done that for me when I started.

I beg to differ .. I see people in Kada-El\'s tavern almost every time I come online. There are still several RPers I know that frequent the tavern to get some rest in between their busy PS lives.

I guess you just live in a different time zone than most or come on at odd hours. Don\'t give up though .. there are still people who come there, myself included ;)

I felt the need to post this, since you guys are allready discussing the tavern...
I too see people venture into tavern sometimes, though it looks pretty haunted most of the time, with only the chef in... The thing is that, I\'ve seen waaaay too many OOC enkis hanging on that pillar above the entrance door. In general I oppose strongly to people acting like statues on the plaza and the tavern windows... what\'s up with that? I mean, it kinda destroys my Rp mood when I see \"hagers\" and \"statuetters\" in general.... what point does that have?

I realize that it CAN be quite amusing (and possible) to have a drunk enkidukai walk over the roof and other \"highly dangerous\" places around the tavern, even to hang from the pillar... but not a DWARF! any thoughts?

sorry for the long post...

you know what  ilvoe to do when im out of the house?
i like to go to new places, climb things and just sit there by myself watching over the scenery in the breeze, its peaceful and serene.
peopel standing on the walls in the plaza might not be standing, the might be sitting soing this, i know i do sometimes. and certainnly when sitting is implemented.... if.....you\'ll find me doing this on roofs and other high places

I do that a lot too, looking stoned while standing on the roof of someones house :$, but still, a lot of players just leave their characters at the plaza while they chat, a character isn\'t a car, it\'s your avatar so I think more people should try not to become just another part of the scenery

I think the OOC/IC problem comes when us new players enter the Plaza. I know I initially began starting trying stay in character - by asking \'do you know anywhere I might be able to get a quest\', but I didn\'t know that Quests had been disabled, so the talk had to immediately drop to OOC so that that could be explained.

Perhaps if the \'Help\' panel was more of a chat-room format instead of an \'ask a helper\' format (I didn\'t want to trouble someone by putting forward a help request for my silly little questions) or if a new OOC \'room\' could be made to keep that sort of speech there, then it wouldn\'t interfere with IC chat.

Not really sure - I\'m sure I\'ll have more comments when I\'ve had a chance to play for a while! I\'m looking forward to talking fully in-character soon though, once I know what I\'m doing in this world!

Oh yeah - the tavern was packed when I visited earlier!

What the hell?? It\'s like you guys go to some alternate dimension pub, but anyway, I don\'t want to cross the different forum rooms together but in the wish list someones has put forth the idea to put all noobs in an academy where they are taught everything, I think that would solve our OOC problem

Meh perhaps they are tired of RPing within the tavern, although it does bring many things to RP since it is such a well put together building with the pub area, bedrooms, cooking area, rooftop etc...

Some people would sit all day in a tavern as RP because perhaps that is their characters safe zone a place they feel most comfortable at...there is no limit to where you can RP considering this world was built for just that :P No one also has the right to tell you what RP is and isn\'t because it varies to each persons imagination.

If you want some more attention within the pub announce things aloud recruit people to join you there for whatever you wish to do, stage events.

RP? Oh nonono my friend. Who needs RP when you can have all sorts of other stuff going around in tavern? For example you can talk about vampyres, weed, breakdancing, cell phones, newspapers, PCs, console games, coke or pizza... and you will surely find many people to talk to, because those topics are *way* more popular than that dull role-playing... But of course that\'s not all! You can also \"rofl\" every second sentence and throw insane number (and you would think 100.000 is a lot...) of fishes at people at once! All irc style! With so many possibilities, tell me... who needs role-playing?

Nothing but sheer fun! :)
