Graphics glitch: Missing characters/buildings/landscape
« on: April 09, 2005, 11:34:31 am »
First off, greetings to you all.  I\'ve been away since the closed testing stage of CB.  Second, I apologise in the event that this has been answered already.  But I couldn\'t find it in the last three pages and it\'s currently 5:30 am.

Anyhow, to the problem. I installed and updated the client (updater set to whole zips).  The client started up fine.  I logged in.  When I got to the choose character screen I noticed that all I saw when I selected my character (Velun Merlu) was an empty pedestal.  I went in world found that I still couldn\'t see myself (in all camera modes).   Others were invisible also though I could see name tags.  The stairs around the plaza were missing as well as several walls and buildings.  I managed to get into the temple, which I recognized only by a redish color behind a portal.  Everything inside was missing except the benches.  I didn\'t go anywhere else but I\'m asuming every place is also like this.  And when I say \'missing\', they were there, I just couldn\'t see them.

I\'m running on an old laptop.

Windows XP Home, Service pack 1

Gateway
Intel Pentium III Mobile CPU 1000 Mhz  (Gack, choke, gag o.O)
512 MB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 2 Go (Gateway)

Long time no see :)

Hmm, what an odd error. I experience the \"missing player on the pedestal\" sometimes, but if I wait for a few seconds before clicking \'Join\', she shows up eventually.

Let\'s see... GeForce 2? Maybe that\'s the problem. I\'m pretty sure you\'ll be needing the latest drivers you can get, ones that fully support OpenGL.

Heya Moogs ^^

Yeah, I thought it might be the graphics drivers but I\'m not sure where to get updated drivers for it.  I got the latest forceware drivers from Nvidia but was told they are not made for my hardware when I attempted to install them.

Oh, and I was kinda disgruntled that I missed the april fools joke because of it... I was told I was a Gobble :P  Managed to catch my shadow\'d figure when in the middle of a doorway portal though.

Drivers:
http://www.nvidia.com/
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Empty pedestal also happens when you are missing cal3d library, tried to
update after installing the game?

long shot, but maybe try installing the following detonator driver. It says it is specific for GeForce2 GO. If this doesn\'t work then i could continue to look around for you :)

Thanks ^^ Unfortunately I won\'t have the time to test it until this weekend, but hopefully it\'ll work. I\'ll let you know when I do ^^

( Oh, and in reference to my second email... I probably should have added that the drivers I gotwere from the nvidia drivers site, off of the driver type/OS/etc. page.  From all selections, they should have worked.  The card is too old for the newest drivers I guess.)
