Bitorrent Behaving Badly
« on: April 15, 2005, 09:58:07 pm »
When I try to download, it sits there telling me it\'s downloading it, but it\'s not. It\'s zero percent completed at a zero kb a second of an unknown size of download.

It\'s mocking me...

Why is this?

Hm. And then it takes off for a minute like a horse at a starting gate, then slows to a bitter little crawl...

Eww.. never liked bittorent but it is said to work nicely for other people. In my opinion, dont waist your time dling that all night. Get a download accelerator like (DAP).. (http://www.speedbit.com) or Getright or something and dl it..
Im on a DSL connection, got it to finish in 1hr and 30mins.
Of course you should fight fire with fire, you should fight everything with fire.   :P  Xantherus Icer  :P

Make sure that if you are behind a router or firewall you forward ports 6881-6889 or else you won\'t connect to seeders properly.

I used Azureus (a Java-based BT client) and it took me about an hour and some change to download all of CB 3.009 behind a Netgear 802.11b router.  I have a cable Internet connection with two other users on my network.
