Sorry for this late notice as I didn\'t think of it at the time, but I have added another rule \"#6\"

6. Please save the files in .BMP format... (I do understand that most servers wont let you upload large files so if you cannot upload your original .BMP then please save a second copy of your screenshot in .JPG format and upload that.
*.BMP files are a higher quality than .JPG files so please keep your original so it can be used if your image is chosen*

Thanks,
Methos

nice work so far people.  Just a question, will any of these actually be used?

Unofficially however... If we get a set of really nice screenshots, its highly likely that the devs will like them and use them as loading screens in the near future.

Just remember: There is no \"definate yes\" that they will be used... But take some really awesome shots and the chances get higher ;) Its all up to you guys.

Methos.

Seriously, people... read the rules.

Nothing against any of you inline posters personally, of course.

@Mondo: The tower one shows a map hole, not a desirable quality, and it is mainly one object filling 3/4 of the screen. Perhaps try a shot from the base of the tower looking up?

In the magic shop, I would have taken a few more steps over and one or two forward to get that weird... blue thing on the left side out.

As for the temple one, the fire is kind of distracting... I would either show all or none of the urn (or whatever it might be called).

@Snobaste: Your link is broken...

@Cherppow and Demarthl: Pretty good :D

@Wizardsrule: Perhaps try moving up to get that distracting post out of the picture, otherwise pretty good.

@Sarrow: Pretty good, I would complain about the leaves in the top, but they will be covered by the overlay.

@Methos: There\'s still bluish stuff inside the outer border of the planeshift logo on your overlay and there\'s no spot for a tips box (maybe a very translucent rounded rectangle at those coords would do it)... Also, don\'t I get some credit for helping you with that template? :P

Very nice everyone.

I was running around Hydlaa and taking some pictures for this competition. I came up with an idea of a \'Loading screen hunter\' GUI mod, that would help people take these screenshots. I hope it\'s ok to post it here, as it is strongly related to this contest.

It is very simple gui modification (3 files*) that turns the help window, into a mask showing exact locations of loading screen objects. This helps you focus and align your pictures.

Note that this mod makes the original use of your help window quite disgusting. I could not find a way to hide or move the pawsTree menu on help window, so it remains as a small cosmetic annoyance. Should the loading screen widgets be moved from original setting, the mask file should be updated to match those changes. Tested on 800*600 and 1024*768 resolutions.

PS/art/gui/LH_loading_mask.png
PS/data/gui/releaselist.xml
PS/data/gui/helpwindow.xml

How to apply:
- Take backup copy of the above files
- unzip the package below to your PS main dir
- run PS

How to use:
- In PS, hide all your windows
- Press H-key (or your assigned help key) to bring up the loading screen mask
- Find a nice position for a pic and focus it as you see fit, and stay still
- Press H-key again to hide the mask
- Take the screenshot.

Congratulations, your screenshot is perfectly aligned loading screen background.

Thanks, have fun! :)

That was sort of intended to add realism

But next time i will take the same old hydlaa with the statue screen shots that everyone does so its considerd \'nice\' :rolleyes:

Not distracting per se, more like it detracts and draws your eye away from the main focus of the image. Also, it shows a bit of weird texture warping on one of the edges. It might be different but that doesn\'t necessarily mean that it\'s any better.  :D

As for my contributions... ehe.

http://phoenixcall.net/dropbox/klyros-lawn.png

to use this, simply save it in psroot\\art\\backdrop\\ with that name and use this zoneinfo file: http://phoenixcall.net/dropbox/zoneinfo.xml (save in psroot\\data\\)

the last step to get this to work is to open psroot\\data\\gui\\releaselist.xml and add the following to the end

Code: [Select]

for those that find the tips area ugly, there\'s another version: http://phoenixcall.net/dropbox/klyros-notips.png

the only difference is that you must modify the xml added to releaselist.xml to reflect the difference in filename.

Note: I\'m not responsible if this mod breaks your planeshift install (though I hope it won\'t) also, the mod may not stick after you update.

* The magic shop
* The dungeons
