Rangers of Yliakum
« on: April 20, 2005, 10:37:11 pm »

Generel
- Introduction -

Rangers are an interesting type of warrior who prefer the open expanses of the outdoors to the cramped, uncomfortable confines of a castle or tower. They are most at ease when the wonders of nature surround them, and especially when the creatures of the forest can be heard in all directions. Though they all share a love for nature and are quite adept in battle, there may be other aspects of life that are held even dearer to any particular ranger. Rangers are renown for their unique abilities at working with things of the natural world, and their skills at outdoor survival are equally exceptional.

- Goals & Belief -

We are wanderers of the land, on our eternal quest for Power, Wealth, Knowledge, Adventure and above all fun and friendship. We are Chaotic Neutral and we do not believe in any gods, even though our members are free to worship any god they want to, as long as it doesn\'t go against the guilds ideals.

Wow I love all the info.  I am tired of the \" Hi my name is Billy and I am starting a new guild called the billy goats... just post if you want to join\".  Everything sounds well thought out.  I do have a question though.  Is this guild race specific or open to all?  When will your site be up?  and how much rp will be used?

Might be an idea to think of a more original name. We\'ve already had the Rangers Guild, which was a very important, well-known and well-liked group that existed for a very long time.

yea, Keepers of the Grove or some such, nto a flame, jsut a siggestion, Rangers were a very ..defined... group, it would be kinda of a kick in the face to the remaining people from it.

You can always read up on the old one, should you be interested in its\' structure, rules, ranks, members, history, etc.  Especially since you are taking on essentially that same name.
It dissolved relatively recently.

The key to manipulative bargaining is to ask for something twice as big as what you want, then smile and nod when you are talked down to your original wish. You are still young, my apprentice, and have much to learn in the ways of the force. -UtM

Meh if the original dissolved there is no problem with taking the name, because think about it, the guild idea or name \"Rangers\" wasn\'t to original to begin with but really that doesn\'t mean anything...most things are taken once already.

Hmm just thought that since the Rangers had been disbanded - they wouldn\'t mind me using a name like this

but in any case thanks to all for the suggestions, and Druke I don\'t see any suggestions as flame ;)

*feels the need for a worship smilie again*
There is still hope!  :))
Good writing, spelling (wait for phiney to point the general error), work! Like water to a desert runner. It may not be too original, but bmk, there *is* such a gap that needs filling.

The name druke suggested isn\'t bad at all, but neither it is good. :P
I doubt any ranger guild would call itself The Rangers Guild.

Just a little notice
the old guild was called the Rangers guild, and was led by Monketh I was never a part of that.
Our guild is called Rangers of Yliakum, a little different but we are mainly Rangers which explains the name :)

Just thought I wanted to add this... though it is rather obvious.

Well even though protecting nature isn\'t one of our goals, we are children of it and are prepared to defend it anytime with our lives ;)

EDIT: Just finished the rules on how we are going to rectuit the new members:

- Trial Period -

Upon being guilded, a Scout must undergo a trial period, which will last until the voting week. During this time Scouts will adventure with and get to know as many members as possible. We are seeking members who are mature, active, make an attempt to roleplay, friendly and are skilled with their character\'s class. If you do not meet these requirements, it is likely you will not pass your initiation.

- The Voting -

On the first week of each month, a Rangers of Yliakum member vote is held on admittance of each scout. The members may cast their vote in a PM to the Warden, with one of three answers:

- Pass, the scout has met all your expectations and would make an fine addition to the guild.

- Reject, the scout made a bad impression and is not Ranger material (reason is required, in PM).

- No idea, did not get a chance to know the beardling well enough to make a decision.

Results of the vote will be announced in a Thread on the last day of the week, and a scout must get 60 % or more of the votes to become a full member. Should they recieve less than 60 % they will be permitted to stay in the guild until the next vote is held, if they recieve less than 60 % on the second voting then they will be removed from the guild. If they recieve any Reject votes they will be removed from the guild, the reason for the reject vote will be explained to the applicant in a PM from the Warden, all members votes are of course anonymous.

Upon a succesful vote, a scout will have the choice to become be promoted to either: Hunter, Wardancer or Neophyte. They can then work their way towards further promotions within the guild to recieve the benefits which comes with a higher rank.

Good thread you ahve started, all the important people sayd something positive, good start :) You might want to read our site as Monk suggested, we had an item about rangering your inviroment thought up by Lhoran. That is indeed interesting, you should really read it, all of you should :)

Well all of luck, I will try and find you ingame to ahve a chat.

[Edit] I checked the site and forums, are you the only one?[/Edit]

haven\'t had the chance to check your site yet, but I will do ASAP 8)
and thanks, it means alot to me that some of the  former members of \"The Rangers guild\" are supporting my guild :D I was actually most nervous about what you guys would say.

Meh, we\'re not the grumpy type.
Asides, there is little to complain about presently, this seems well thought-out and well applied.  So, there\'s no Rep. damage to worry about.  I might even join if I ever become active again.

Boom! *Lhoran comes crashing through the door of the Rangers of Yliakum. Takes a strole around their domain and nods.*
I think I\'m the only, still semi active, member of the last Rangers Guild that hasn\'t said the name is up for grabs.
The name is up for grabs, and it looks like you just grabbed it :D
Well thought out and put together as well. If only I was willing to join another guild :)
Best of luck!

Good luck with your guild. :) ...and considering how many knight guilds there are (including the one I\'m in) I don\'t see anything wrong with there being more than one Ranger guild. ;)
