3D) granite meek
« on: April 21, 2005, 01:50:09 am »
I started doing this with the intention of texturing and animating it, and then submitting it as a creature contribution.  It\'s based off of Cherppow\'s \"granite meek\" drawing from his \"simple\" drawings (page 1).  Some people who are much more experienced than I, however, have informed me it is too cartoony and I have decided to scrap it (sorry Cherppow).  This means it is available for anyone who wants a model to practice uv-mapping, texturing, and animating.  If you want a copy just PM me with which version you want (1 or 2) and what format you want (.max or .3ds).

Version 1 - 526 polys

The model in the picture is slightly higher in polys because of the added nostrils.  Just imagine they\'re not there.

Version 2 - 635 polys

Added nostrils, teeth, and more spikes.  Also tweaked some stuff.

Hi!

Good work ArcaneFalcon, I\'m honoured that someone has crafted my simplies into models! :) I hope you find time to do UV mapping for it. As I told you earlier, I could do a texture for it. Though it may happen that if you do the \'mapping you also want to put it to use and end up doing texture too. ;)

Here is the original sketch, if I may.

Cyl: Don\'t lose faith.  Just keep practicing.

It also helps if you have someone who knows more than you give you critiques/advice.  I\'m a bit of a noob myself, but if you can\'t find anyone really talented I could help a bit.  Just PM me.

Edit: Yeah, I don\'t actually remember seeing any of your stuff.  You may not be as bad as you think.  Make us some fan art so we can see. :)

Cherppow: I\'ll see if I can uv him in the next couple days.  Mr. Meek shouldn\'t be too difficult (at least I hope).

Actually, I think Cyl is quite talented. I don\'t really know much about poly counts or anything, but the stuff of his that I\'ve seen looks pretty nice.

We make 3d stuff because we enjoy it (and if we get good PS might use some of our stuff).  If you\'d like to get started check out the contributing sticky for starters.  If you need help try a google search first.  If you can\'t seem to find it you can always PM someone, ask on IRC, or make a post here.  I\'m pretty much always available, but can\'t guarantee I will always know how to help.  Good luck. ;)

ty, but for the monster: i think his body is a bit to much like a ball. try to stretch it a little more to the back, not so round.

for the rest: i downloaded blender and im just a little overwelmed by all the buttons and thingies but im trying to do some tutorials.
