Employment system?
« on: April 27, 2005, 01:54:11 pm »
Hi all,

a bit new to the MMORPG scene, but I played a few of them. Anyway, about the idea, why not have a \'guild\' which main purpose is to assign willing players to the apporpiate guild?

It came to me when I realize tgat there are probably people like me; willing to roleplay a bit but unsure where to start. I figured, \"Join a guild.\" Which brings up: \"which guild to go to?\" Because of shyness, some are even unsure which guild they feel best with.

With this employment, people may hire themselves out, and the guild leaders may pick recruits they feel best joining. New players have a chance to socialize, guild leader gets more members.

Of course there are issues to work out, like how exactly is the emplyment gonna work out, but I think its a fair idea. What say you?

Well, you have a few options already that do not require such a change. you have access to the forums, os you can check there. You can also ask around in game- sure, most will recomend their own guild, but especially if you find places like the tavern where many hang out, you can get a differance of opinion.
As for hiring out members... there is not much that one could do with that. There was a propsed Academy guild before, and I have heard of a first steps guild - perhaps what you ask for already exists?

I see, I suppose I should check out the taverns at a more popular time I guess.

I have seen signs of that \"First Steps\" guild so it does exist.

Aside from that Zabeal basically answerred everything. Here on the forums we have an entire section specifically for all sorts of guilds. You should be able to check them out there, most will guide you to their website.

Also most people in game would gladly show you around and help you out if you get confused or don\'t know what to start with.

I personally think the best way to go about things, when walking around the townspeople about guilds, would be to first ask them questions about their guild.

Then, if you\'re satisfied so far with your answers, tell them what you desire in a guild. The person may try to sell you into their guild at that point, but before you get too far into accepting, ask yourself wether your character and the guild fits.

If you explain to them your side of the story first they may attempt to show you all of the good things that apply to you about their guild without telling you other stuff that might affect your descision (sometimes they might do that and not even realise it). So get them to talk first and show yourself later. ;)

Hope that helps :)
