I know that PS is in its testing stage, so does that mean when it comes out officially, will it become p2p?  Thanks in advance...

Unless the main page is totally inaccurate (which has been a recent debate, and my experience is that much of the main page should be taken with at least a tiny bit of salt) the plans are to keep it FREE...forever...period.

As to when it will finally be \"finished\"...in all honesty...when has any MMORPG ever reached finished?  Well maybe after a game pulls the plug it is finished...meaning no more development...but until then...no game ever stops changing.

And since they have no plans of charging...how will we ever tell that it is released??  They tell us? maybe...otherwise, it is just anyones guess.

chriskl answerd you question most succinctly(sp).
Allow me to expand though.
Plane Shift 3D is, has been and will always be free. The corporation that holds it and all its funding are user supported (donations to date), none of the developers receive a salary and the engin that the game is built on actually makes it quite hard for them to get away with ever charging for the game without buying a new engin and rebuilding. Your pretty safe.

I suppose technically a mmorpg bcomes complete when the original features of the game as stated on the games site are fully integrated into the game, anything beyond that is just updates I guess

Huh? The CrystalSpace engine is GNU LGPL, it gives freedom, not restriction, as far as I read and understand it. They can\'t charge for the inclusion of the engine, only the physical act of distributing it, but they could charge for their bits of code (PlaneShift core) if they wanted. (Unless I read it wrong, in which case, someone please clarify?)

It\'s all moot since PlaneShift is free though  :)
