3.009 Character upload
« on: May 02, 2005, 04:08:54 pm »
I\'m reporting this as it\'s better on the whole to do so and try and give feedback - I know this is in development and I\'m in no hurry ...

I got as far as the character generation/info screens (New character) and I couldn\'t upload, it said I had selected no race even though I had, repeatedly.

Then I removed the file from the last version install     /usr/local/lib/libcal3d.10.dylib    and I could get to the character summary screen whithout error msgs. This time I also named the character first, then chose the race. When I clicked \'Upload!\' - Planeshift 3.009 \'froze\' (e.g. I gave it 5 to 10 minutes then had to restart).

eMac, 512MB, 1.25Ghz, OS X.3.9

For dev. help more than a demand for solutions right now, cheers ...

PS I removed the older Planeshift folder before installing 3.009, but not the file    libcal3d.10.dylib    until the stage mentioned above. I don\'t know if this file was new (overwritten the old) by running 3.009 for the first time or not, I just moved it because I had to create the /usr/local/lib folder and put it in there when I tried to run the previous OS X Planeshift version and I though it might conflict with 3.009

2nd EDIT: Relaunched Planeshift 3.009 and I have my character ... game loads and I can get around ... bit of lag every now and then and no sound (as reported) but great ! Hope this post helps ...

to Planeshift. I hope you get it sorted so you can play.

Right, first you need to put the libcal file back. None of that moving files around stuff is necessary at the moment.

However, check this thread out if you haven\'t already: http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=16196&boardid=32&styleid=3&sid=00eec9c3a24ca7fec7dabbc966752674

Second, I am unsure about the character, it may be a bug. But, make sure you have at least one selection point left when you create your character, these are the numbers on the right side of the screen. If you have a negative, the character wont load and it\'ll say you have no character selected. This may be the problem. Also, there might be a bug with one of the races, if the first isn\'t the problem, perhaps try a different race.

Hope you get it solved,

I think I have solved it (see EDIT) - but should I put back the file I moved from the last version ?

And thanks for the welcome - this project is exciting

If it\'s working, you don\'t need to move anything.  You should no longer need libcal3d in /usr/local/lib.

Of course, right now things *won\'t* work since Mac users can\'t connect to the server.  *innocent whistle*
