Hero or Sidekick?
« on: May 03, 2005, 06:46:57 am »
I think PS is hero heavy.

Me: Sidekick or \"Special Direction Extra\"

What about you?  Hero?  Extra? Sidekick?

I\'m defenitely an extra or maybe a sidekick, one of those two. Definately not a hero, my only heroes are the developers who have been busily creating one of my favourite games, Planeshift. and no i\'m not sucking up either. If I was old enough i\'d become a developer.

Well I have to say both a Hero and a simple Nolthrir.

My character doesn\'t have any of the skills to be an actual hero in the stereotypical sense of the word. But he does have \'heroic\' aspirations and dreams and I think that is what makes the game world different from the real world. As it should.

In games we can have far grander goals than in real life .. so why settle for a character that is say .. a boring housewife .. when you can be a tefusang slaying femme fatale?

Even in a society of heroes there will be favorites and grander heroes than others .. the bar just gets raised a bit higher.

everyone\'s character is a hero in the eyes of the user of that character. even though they may be this weak useless character that does nothing, in the eyes of the creator they are a masterpiece.

Hmm, I aint really sure, I would say in ashes we are sidekicks to each others, or heroes together.

we could be that but the message in that is proberly something like, we are all equals wether there is a 50lvl differance or anything. So yeah I think we are really equals in Planeshift just like most of us are in real-life. But some people serve others so does that mean that those people are not included in that?

Actually, my character would be an extra on the set of a zombie movie.  There are tons of other extras dressed nearly the same and doing the same thing.  I have no desire to be well known in life, so that makes its way into the game.  My character is an Enkidukai from Kran Village, daughter of a bartender and barmaid.  Nothing special.

She just didn\'t like Kran Village so now she\'s in Hydlaa working an equally boring job for Kada El\'s, trying to control the rat population.  There are plenty of people like that.

Partially because only people with lame storymaking abilities always seem to make that their backstory. =/

Oooh, I\'m glad to see villains hanging around!  I think that many of the \"greatest warrior ever\" characters are played by the younger players, who can\'t really pull off the role.  That leaves Wormtongue / Fagan types like me playing second to inferior players.  I don\'t mind being obsequious and sycophantic, provided the player on the other end understands the dynamic and can contriibute.

Have you met Arnigus yet? :D

On the other hand, my char from CoS is not exactly a hero. Nor is he a villan. He simply follows the path before him. Sad really. You\'ll see what I mean when I start my third CoS story.

I\'m more of an overly convenient, sci-fi-esque plot anomaly, really.  The kind that gets you accused of bad writing.  :P

The key to manipulative bargaining is to ask for something twice as big as what you want, then smile and nod when you are talked down to your original wish. You are still young, my apprentice, and have much to learn in the ways of the force. -UtM

Holy heroism batman.

I\'m somewhere between a hero and a sidekick. Like a mix between Batman and Robin. I get to wear tights, cape and a cool mask.
Browsing the forums when I\'m bored, nothing more.

Phinehas is definitely capable of being a hero, but he has many weaknesses, too. We\'ll just have to see if they drag him down, or if he rises in spite of them.
