Can someone give me a graphics card?

Okay.  I have an uber bad graphics card, but one step up from the standard one that came with my computer (GeForce Fx 5700LE).  Anyone want to give me a nice one for free? :)

Uhh you know you\'re never going to get one right?
People don\'t have extraa g-cards lieing around and not everyone could afford just giving one away. Mine is great and it only cost me 75 bucks.

ehmm you\'re kidding me right? Graphics cards aren\'t litterly little cards people will give away. These things are more like mini motherboards that cost around $100-$1,500 at estimate.

I have an Ati Radeon 9600 XT 256MB that works great on pretty much all games but it was $230, if you are more into saving a bit, I\'d reccommend an Ati Radeon 9550 or 9200. but never get Nvidia..

Ya Nvidia may have bigger numbers but Ati\'s still run better. I got a 9200SE myself and it runs great.

i have all manner of computer parts lying around.. my house is like that airport graveyard in new mexico or whatever just with PC parts instead of old planes :P and no you cant have one.. shipping alone the card wouldnt  live through

EDIT: there are some good discount hardware sites around that sell stuff dirt cheap.. try those they also have the proper packaging for that manner of thing

lol.. I have extra Ati 9600 pro lying around but I am saving it to my friends birthday ;P

Uhm.. Ati = bigger numbers and raw power + bad drivers but Nvidia on the other hand runs with quality electronics and good drivers and works lots of better.

ati has big numbers :P

i have an NVIDIA GEforce 440

about 100$, runs great on almost all games.
puls it comes with a groovy full version copy of Ghost recon ^^
i get about 40FPS even in hydlaa with it, and only lag out at hyoja road :D

Well, there are ATI\'s Radeon x800 and the like which are sort of low-numbered, yet high priced.  Last I checked, a x800pro was like $300+.  That\'s just kind of nuts. =/  I have a 9800Pro, so I guess those numbers are big.

On Newegg or some other online vendors you can get a decent card for a reasonable price.  Check there, shorty.

Oh, and being a l4/\\/\\3r b3gz0r5 is not teh awesomeness cool job some make it seem.

NVIDIA are for one much better per dollar, whether or not the fastest NVIDIA doesn\'t benchmark out as fast as the fastest ATI.  I also know that NVIDIA has better opengl support than does ATI, and since CrystalSpace, the 3D engine for Planeshift, uses Opengl for its 3D rendering you might want to consider that fact.

GeForce GPU\'s suffer alot in tests that stress the memory pipeline between the ram and GPU, however this isn\'t something that becomes a performance issue in most games anyways, but it does lead to lower overall performance scores.  I mean, a card only needs to have enough textures buffered to draw on the polygons that the card is drawing at any given time, and this is rarely more than 64 MB, even in todays latest games.  2 identical cards whose only differences is video memory will benchmark out nearly exactly the same, as long as the card doesn\'t have too little. A good comparision would be a GeForce 2 64 meg and a geforce2 128 Meg card.

And also NewPie is right about the drivers.  Nvidia does an excellent job with their drivers, and they are always increasing performance of the cards with driver revisions, ATI tends to rely on raw hardware power which isn\'t necessarily better :)

And btw.. If you are considering about graphs card with 256 memory for gaming... well.. rare games like Doom3 get it all out of larger memory coz most of games dont just support 256... So if you wanna buy that shiny Sapphire Radeon 9600 xt 256mb... you are just wasting your time because for example GF 6600 GT 128MB AGP is better for most of the games.

At the moment, the best card that is relative powerful, and at a best price, is the 6600GT. As performance, it\'s very close to the standard 6800, but it\'s with >100$ cheaper. The only main difference between this two graphic cards, is that the 6600GT is on 128bits, and the 6800 is on 256bits.

 Anyway, for a card that costs around 150 - 200$ (the PCI-Express version is cheaper than the AGP one, that reaches around 200$), this is the best choice. Ah, and it\'s over the X700PRO from ATI, so yeah, this is the best in the mainstream area.

 Well, I personally have on one of my computers a 6600GT from Leadtek, and I am very pleased of it. I can basically run everything, and hell yeah, its cooler is very silent (that\'s why I chose Leadtek). And it\'s good at overclocking as well, I could easily have at least 585/1075 (from 500/900).

 As for other good producers, I recommand ASUS. Again, if someone wants a card from the mainstream area, forget your thoughts of having a card from ATI. Err yea, I am still an ATI fan ... ;)

 Yeah, I forgot to say. Stop with the begging kiddo, I doubt you\'ll ever find someone that will give you a graphic card, not to mention someone who\'ll give you a decent graphic card ...

well not when i had the old Voodoo

but still i think nvidia is the best
no matter what u say

but i still gotta get an upgrade lol still using my old
Geforce MX440 lol
