Limbdead?
« on: May 13, 2005, 10:28:41 pm »
I got an error message that wasn\'t really clear. My graphics were went screwy, I took a screenshot and then went to bed. Then when I woke up, I went on the computer and it said \"You are limbdead. If you\'re really getting this message, please send a bug report.\" (At least, I think that\'s what it said.)

Screenshot: http://deliri.com/Limbdead.bmp

(If it doesn\'t work, I\'m still uploading it.)

Edit::Uploaded, and it says \"You are limbdead. If you\'re really getting this message, report this please.\"

It actually says \"linkdead\", but if your graphics are looking like in the screenshot, I\'m surprised that you could even read the message at all.

Anyway, this message only means that your client has lost connection to the server for some reason. This happens occasionally, sometimes even frequently. Sometimes the server crashed, sometimes packets get dropped somewhere on the internet, etc.. To my knowledge, the \"please report this\" is outdated, but it might become more important in the future when linkdeath isn\'t an everyday occurance anymore.

The solution is to just restart the client, and when ping responses come in (i.e., it doesn\'t say \"Fail\" ), log back in.

You should try to see if you can update your graphics drivers if your graphics look like that all the time, though.

My graphics NEVER look like that, that was the only time. I have an ATI 9250 RADEON graphics card. So why does it tell me to report it as a bug if it\'s just a kick off the server? XD

I don\'t think anyone really knows the answer to that. We don\'t need Linkdeaths reported. :) I\'ll ask Acraig if it can be changed in the next update.
