All was silent...

Part I: In the Darkness of the Night

All was silent.

Two feet stealthilly tiptoed about the desolate alleys, making not a sound in the gloomy white glow given off by the azure sun.  The azure sun, which was now being stolen away by the darkness.  Towards the tavern the feet made their way.  Yes, Kada El\'s.

All was silent.

Entering the tavern, two eyes squinted, trying to get used to the torchlight surrounding them.  The room was empty as the streets outside, not a soul wandered them this late at night.  Not a soul but one, that is.

Indeed, all was silent (except for the cracking sparks coming from the fireplace, of course).

A buttocks slid onto a chair, and a head looked around at the paintings and mugs.  A yawn broke the \'silence\', and a large sack hit the table infront of the dwarf.  Yes, the dwarf.  Oakenshade was his name.
Uloim Oakenshade.

Something was taken out of the sack, an item wrapped in a brown hide and some yarn.  Uloim cut the yarn, and unwrapped the hides.  A cloak!  A large, green cloak was revealed.  It was beautiful, and Uloim smiled at the sight of it.  And at that moment, memories filled the dwarf\'s mind.  Memories of hapiness and sorrow.  And so the dwarf sat there.  Thinking, remembering, doing this as the rest of the town slept.  And what was he thinking about?

Purpose.

And so the earth shattering silence continued, waiting to be broken at a moments notice...

Interesting style. Almost prose-like. I think I like it.

But I would change one thing. Change \"the moon\" to \"the Azure Sun shrouded in the cloak of night\", or some such thing, as there is no moon in PS. :)

Nothing to be ashamed of, such errors even happen to persons who have been here for long.

EDIT: Under The Moon denies the Moon, lol. (this statement is not to be taken serious, rather to be taken as a seemingly pointless one)

Uloim you are judged as a newbie by the joining date rather than post count IMO ;)

But nice story (a little poem like), also a good way to \"introduce\" the character - sounds a little like a thief who is about to commit a crime :)

Also nice sig, me likes :D

All was silent.... (Part II)

Part II: The Accident

All was silent....

....around the large dungeon tower and the northern gate. All was silent, that is, until a rock hit the ground and burst into pieces on impact.  A dent was left where the rock had hit the ground, and the shards of the rock slid down different parts of the street, escaping the light of the Asure sun until they found shadows of various buildings.

Atop the tower stood the same dwarf.  Yes, it was Uloim Oakenshade indeed.  A handful of rocks he had in a small bag strapped to his belt.  In the dwarf\'s right hand, he held two rocks.  The hand glided away from Uloim\'s body, and its fingers opened, dropping the small pebbles to their doom.

The two rocks danced about eachother violently, and their speed increased as they continued to fall.  The air around them shrieked as if crying out to the two pebbles, perhaps in a last effort to save them.  The ground grew nearer and ever nearer, until it was upon the rocks.  The two objects exploded into the ground, two small clouds of dust rising, and their shards fled to the darkness as well.  Two more dents joined the orriginal.

Another rock was plunged toward the ground, fated to join the others.  The ground came closer and closer as the flat stone soared more and more quickly.  Fifty, fourty, thirty!  The ground was a mere twenty feet away now!  Closer and closer, faster and faster!  It was all too much!

Until....

A tan human (Ylian he was) had just entered the town, and was heading toward the town square.  He took one last step south-southwest and stopped, hearing a sound above his head.  The man looked up to see what was creating the slight noise, and found more than he expected.

BAM!

The Ylian fell to the ground, losing his consciousness.

Back at the top of the tower, the dwarf\'s eyes widened in awe and horror.  What had he done?!  How could he explain such a thing?  Behind one of the tower\'s pillars the dwarf hid all but his head, which peered down at the body.

\"Hey!!\" another human shouted from below.  \"Who threw that?\"  The man picked up the pebble, and looked around.  Seeing nothing but dust and dents on the stone path just infront of his feet, the human looked up, just in time to see the face of Uloim before the dwarf could hide himself.

\"You!\" he shouted, \"You murderer!  You tried to kill my brother!  Now I\'ll kill you!\"

The man burst into a sprint, heading to the nearby entrance of the dungeon.

All was silent.... (Part III)

Part III: The Escape

All was NOT silent in the dungeon halls.  The Ylian drew his large b*stard sword and ran up the many stairs of the tower.

Uloim, hearing the shouts and threats, began to panic.  In almost instinct, the dwarf drew his twin metal falchions, one in each hand.  He was no warrior, the human would surely slay him for nothing more than an accident!  If he was to stay up here, Uloim would be killed.  If he jumped from the tower, the dwarf would surely die.  So the dwarf did the only thing he could do.

He took a risk.

The dwarf dropped his bag of rocks and took his green cloak out of his bag, putting it on.  He gripped his falchions tightly, and dove from the tower toward the ground below.

The air whipped Uloim\'s face, howling in his ears.  He held his arms and legs away from his body, slowing down his fall with the help of the cloak, but it was still not enough!  The dwarf glided toward the tower, and thrusted his daggers into the stone.  In a horribly jerky manner, the dwarf slid down the side of the tower, his shoes burning as they rubbed against the tower and his falchions dulling and cracking as they left lines on the tower\'s side.  Suddenly, Uloim was flung away and he hit the ground, the wind knocked out of him.  He coughed weakly and breathed in loudly.  He slowly brought himself to his feet, his legs shaking, and limped away to a nearby alley.

Part IV: The Tragedy

The brother of the unconscious Ylian finally arrived on the top of the tower, looking around.  He ran around, out of breath, swinging his sword wildly.

\"A mage, you must be!  Reveal yourself and fight me like a man!\"

Consumed by his fury, the man did not notice the bag of rocks just behind to his feet or the ledge just behind the bag.  He backed away, waiting the nonexistant mage to strike, and tripped over the bag.  The man fell backwards, into thin air.

From the shadows of the alley, Uloim watched this, and screamed, \"NOO!\"

The falling human cried out in fear.  His body flipped in the air, almost lifelessly, save for the flailing arms.  The man, who could be heard across the town, let go of his sword and it soared away, toward the rooftop of a home nearby.  The man was impaled onto the ground right next to his brother, who was now covered in his blood.  Many people of all races gathered around the scene, gasping and screaming.

\"Murder!\"
\"No, it was suicide!\"

Guards came running, and Uloim fled the scene.  From alley to alley he dashed, until he was on the other side of town.  The dwarf hid in the library for the remainder of the day, waiting for everything to cool down.

And now, in the corner of the library, all was silent.

Well, hope you all liked it.  I had lots of free time today, so I decided to finish things up.  I kinda hurried it along, so sorry if it\'s a bit hard on the eyes... :)

Liked it indeed, very much...though I feel really bad for that poor dwarf and those men. :(  I guess there\'s a lesson to be learned here.

Since the server is still down, I\'ve decided to start up on chapter two.  It\'ll be a new topic in the rp forums, so if anyone wants to continue commenting on this story, you\'re welcome to do so.  I\'ll give a link to it as soon as it\'s posted, and on that topic I\'ll post a link to this topic so everyone knows the two are linked together as one story.  Hope you enjoy.
