client window not centered
« on: May 16, 2005, 05:48:54 pm »
Ok...I\'m new to the game, and haven\'t even gotten to play yet because the server is down...lol.
when I open the client, it is located in the top left corner of my screen with about half of the window cut off. I cannot move it and changing the display settings do not help.
What do I do to fix this?

I had that same problem. The only help I got from someone was to just DL the client again. This did fix my problem, but was a pain b/c I had to wait another 5 flippin hours for this game to download. Oh well Hopefully it was worth it once the new patches are installed. Hope this helps

Nope that didn\'t work...this is very disappointing, I haven\'t even played the game yet and already it\'s not working..thanks for the try though, you were the only one who responded.

Hm, I have not experenced this, but I would think that if you changed your screen resolution in pssetup.exe it should re-center the window.
Good luck!

What about changing the screen monitor resolution instead? (To a higher level of course) maybe this way you can catch the window and move it where you want...
PS: I\'m wondering if this would help.

Aye, as zabeal and Nilrem suggested, this is a resolution problem. Basically, if you have a lower desktop resolution selected than the ingame resolution, this effect will occur.

The solution is simple: either set your desktop to the same resolution as PS or higher, or reduce the PS resolution to the desktop resolution or lower using the configuration utility that is included with the client. Look at the PS program group for this and the updater, and search the boards on how to get the updater working if it doesn\'t work out of the box.
Don\'t use the updater until the server is back up, though.

You can also use PS in fullscreen mode (via pssetup) if you don\'t want to change resolutions, but be aware that there is a crashing problem when you switch away from the client in fullscreen mode.

Here\'s a sneaky trick:
(assuming Windows version)

Right-click on the program in the taskbar => select \"Move\"
=> Use the keyboard arrows to move the window in question
(you may have to click again to stop moving it)

You could normally do this with the mouse, but you can\'t with the title bar off screen.

Hope this helps!

I think he indeed needs to right click the blue bar in order to be able to move the window. But if bonkerz could click on the blue bar i\'m sure bunkerz would have moved the window.
I understand that the blue bar is unreachable for bonkerz.

Edit: I just saw what Avaarok said.
It seems that the idea isn\'t solving the issue.

Thank you all for your help...
Indeed the \"blue bar\" was unreachable...however i was able to change the screen res in the ps settings and this resolved the problem.
I am anxiously awaiting the return of the server so I can try the game.

Thanks again,
Bonkerz
