We made no such commitment. See the note at http://laanx.fragnetics.com:

New client should be released on Sunday or Monday if there are no major problems.

This was your committment, look up the definition.

Especially note the if there are no major problems. Well we hit major problems.

Okay, understandable.  Give us another estimated time, maybe disclose the type(s) of problems so we can sympathize.

We don\'t know when it is ready now. We are working on it hard. But we are currently hampered by different timezones and people sleeping when others are not so it is hard to get good progress.

I trust you are better at programming than you are in English.

Where did I say you are idiots? I just was complaining about the fact that people are taking our work for granted.

You didn\'t say, you inferred by complaining.  Maybe you need to go back to your kids, house and garden.

I knew there were stupid users, but this takes the price.

For one, how can you have the heart to complain on something that you don\'t pay a single penny to and is developed by people on their free time?
I don\'t get that, would you like to have that response if you made a game?
Ok if you had paied 30$ a month, but you aren\'t.

Jorrit is also the Crystal Space engine leader, so he has extra much work to do :)

And a final note:
This is a frekking normal work week, some of the devs do have to get an income

I think it is best to give no time estimate. Personally I think we shouldn\'t have given a time estimate in the first place. As to the types of problems, this is just a hard update. A lot of things have changed and a few of those things are rather hard to setup right. The problem is merging the work of different developers and making sure the art fits the new things.

Sorry but if you are reading that out of my statements then I think you should read that again. That was NOT what I said at all.

Just remember, there\'s the same percentage stupid users as there are stupid developers. :P

Hmm... I\'m risking to insult the PlaneShift users here (which I don\'t want to do) but I have some doubts about that statement in general :-)  At least it doesn\'t match with my experience so far. And I manage quiet a bit of Open Source projects (and get to meet a lot of users in that respect).

But of course one can never generalize. There are stupid people in every area and there are smart people everywhere too.

Now why didn\'t you post that somewhere on the forums in the beginning?  And I disagree with you on the time estimate.  Give an over-estimate, it will keep the wolves from your door.

Ok, overestimating is easy. Hmm see... Well in a year from now this update will certainly be finished.

As to not posting on the forums in the first place, don\'t ask me. I wasn\'t even there when this update started :-)

Dutch is NOT German. Dutch is spoken in the Netherlands and the north part of Belgium. What you were speaking is German.

That was only in response to an arrogant attitude from the person I was replying too.

Greetings,

I was underwhelmed at that post.
You may be a GREAT programmer and sought after the world over (did I misread you?), but stupid is everywhere.
It was a developer that started this mud-slinging.

There you go with the smart-ass attitude.

I definitely know the difference.  I have been to both countries....in fact I have traveled Europe quite extensively.  And that was an apology, and kudo\'s for being bi-linguial.

That\'s not nice from someone who wants to be IN CHARGE.

See if the game was up and running....neither one of us would be here.  :)

If I wouldn\'t censor it myself if I were a Mod, I\'d comment on the way I feel about ajdaha and Turbock. In less censored words, it is pitiful. I have not seen any dev insult anyone, but I have seen you two ranting about things you obviously have no clue of. While Turbock hasn\'t posted often yet, at least someone who posted a lot like ajdaha should have grasped what PS is like and why it is like that by now.

So in closing I can only say that I think that any of the fictional insults you two claim to have been directed at you would be more than appropriate, and in fact I would insult you several times more if it wouldn\'t be cnsored anyway.

I sincerely hope the devs will be able to ignore fools like you for all eternity.

This was a ridiculous statement to say the least.

I wonder what sort of programmer that was... probably an entry level HTML \"programmer\". I would be very very surprised if any serious programmer would be able to get away with that attitude in their job. In fact, programming is just as unpredictable as any other project that is more complex than planting a tree.

Actually I\'m not. I\'m member of the PS team mostly because I\'m the project manager of Crystal Space which is used by PlaneShift. But I\'m not in charge of PlaneShift at all. Least of all when updates happen and how they happen. I wasn\'t even aware there was going to be an update in the weekend before friday :-)

Actually it was a member of this so called \'community\' that started the mud slinging and name calling.

If you insist on moaning about the poor quality of gaming, server down time and lack of Developer skills your in the wrong place, you should be back in your little runescape hole.

Our Dev\'s are some of the greatest people anyone could ever meet, they have a dream and are bringing it to life by building a fantastic completely free game in their own time at with no income from the project

These guys and gals are modern day Jesus, mother teresa, ghandi and who knows who else, so please, just stop the bitching for your own sake

So you want to get into the frey, or are you trying to kiss-up to the dev\'s?
Read again.
I didn\'t agree with what ajdaha had to say, but he did have the right to express his feelings.
The \"moderators\" only complained back, called either he or I \"stupid,\" (yes he did), and took a \"take it or leave it\" attitude.
I\'m glad other professions don\'t look upon their work like these people do.

I\'m known for having a friendly nature and I\'m also very patient towards new people and persons who want to learn something. My original reply was a bit harsh only because the tone at which Ajdaha was complaining was not at all nice. In fact I thought it was rather insulting to us (us being the PS developers). I mean look at this:

Quote

Well, its tuesday now and its till not up. I mean what kind of development process is this?
Just because they\'re not getting money, its still not nice to lie. Just don\'t say anything, cause lying makes my hopes go up and then they come down again. Rather if I just forgot about planeshift for a while.
And did I hear rite? this isn\'t the wipe update!
WTF, how long do we have to wait.
And don\'t give me that s*** (I sensored that myself cause even the censoring machine isn\'t working) about \"we don\'t know\", how do you not know, wtf wrong with these people. Look at the bugs and tell us how many are left to fix before the damned wipe.

That was the original post. I don\'t think that\'s very friendly and I find it very disturbing if people complain in that tones to us. After all we are doing this for fun in our free time. People should be a *little* bit more understanding of that fact.
