Any race.
No classes in the game.
Do what you like, it\'s a test version.

Tips?

Don\'t expect a game with many features.
Don\'t complain.
Don\'t argue with anyone.
Don\'t ask for money.
Don\'t be a noob.
And so on. I\'m sure you know the drill. :)

sorry to tell you, there really is no best race for newbies, all the races seem (to me at least) to be fairly well balanced. But, it does depend on what you want to be, i.e. magician, melee fighter, sneaky assassin?

Here are the races and what I think they lead best to:

Ylians: well rounded but only moderate at everything
Xacha: better for magic, but still fairly strong
Nolthrir: not too strong but agile and hardy, they seem to be good for red or blue way magic (i.e. fire and water)
Dermorians: Weak but great at magic, especially Azure and Brown (i.e. wind and earth)
Stonebreakers: strong and hardy, bad at magic.
Hammerwielders: Less strong than their Stonebreaker cousins, they are more agile, but still bad at magic.
Lemurs: Not implemented yet, sorry.
Kran: Brute strength, not agile and terrible at magic
Diaboli: Not strong, slightly agile, good at magic especially Crystal and Dark (i.e. good and evil)
Enkidukai: Fairly well rounded, agile and good at Azure and Brown magic
Klyros: Well rounded character (I\'m a Klyros)
Ynnwn: Strong and hardy, bad at magic.

Hope this helps, basically everything here is taken from the main page races and the guide, so read through there also...

Welcome to the game,

P.S. The best thing in this game is to roleplay... Also, be humble so people respect you. Finally, don\'t join a guild until you know the backround of it and whether it fits into your character\'s roleplaying type... Enjoy...

I dissagree that the races are all \"balanced\".

As of right now there is nothing implemented past a shallow mining operation, a somewhat deep melee combat, a magic system (with only combatic spells so far), trading with a minimal amount of items, and development is coming close on a crafting system.

All this being said, there is only 1 thing to do that is of any real worth or importance. That is combat. We could argue for hours that roleplaying is much more substancial, but let\'s face it. There are no rewards for roleplaying other than an enjoyable experience. You can get that from a million other places, including an instant message program.

So really the only thing so far rewarded in game is combat. The best player for combat is the Kran. There\'s no way around it. Agility isn\'t very far in developement, it barely works. Brute strength is the most powerfull statistic.

Kran wins.

I think what Provisionist meant with balanced are if you look at the race\'s attributes and compare them with eachother. There is no allpowerful race, instead they each have their own specialities or lack thereof when they are allround decent.

That seemed very obvious in Provisionist\'s thread and he pinned down the strong and weak points of the different races perfectly. One thing I  would like to add is that there is no restriction in improving your character on PS so far. This means that you could take a Kran who would suck at magic but as long as you pump in enough trias (money) and PP\'s (experience) you could make him a top of the bill magician. All races and characters can be developed freely as long as you have the resources for it.

Kixie, you are right though that the game is very unbalanced at the moment and only fighting is semi-decently available so currently a good fighter would benefit the most but that will change in the future.

As an example I have a Nolthrir and trained my red way magic to the max. Though the fireballs I can shoot can only take out a rat with 3 hits. Where I can kill a rat with one hit with my swords .. and my sword skill/strength isn\'t even trained to one third of what it can be.

I think is start the game with mage because magic is cool! :D And i choose maybe the diaboli because hes best at black and crystal.
Black is maybe cool cuz i can do many armfull spells with that and crystal cuz i can heal people.
Good chose?

Oh god, do you even know that planeshift is heavly based around roleplaying?

By the way those short character tingys where good but some where wrong. The Ynnwns weakness against silvers and metals will make th bad against swords in the future. They seem like good archers to me.
And Lemurs are Good overall mages, they can o any way and excel in it without suffering a weakness. But they do lose the bonus some races get to some ways.

You\'re right, the lemurs are good all the way around for magic. Unfortunately they are not implemented yet...Yes and I am as sad about it as you are.

Also, that is why I told Tombba to look at the guide and races information as well.
