Hmm... well, I have two small critisisms, hope you don\'t mind. :)

Firstly, the blade looks oddly... segmented. That\'s just a texture issue, I presume?

Secondly, I didn\'t notice the blade curving much. :) But I guess that\'s just because I was expecting something similar to a Scimitar.

All in all though, it looks like you put a lot of effort into this, so kudos to you. :)

yeah, you are really working hard with models. but as moogie said the blade isnt curved that much, i should make it more like a katana, that exactly what the textures looked like.

if you have really cool photoshop tutorials don\'t be afraid to pm me!

ok i have curved the blade a bit more but i cant figure out the segmenting .  it isnt a texture problem its  that i used several of the same thing to make my shape and thats how it comes out. i tried bridging faces but it wouldnt let me. any idea\'s on how to fix this ? cos  i gotta admit i find it slightly annoying.

I see you are using a mac and I am wondering what program you use.
PS. the sword is cool

Hello there,

Hmm, to the segmentation problem... I see you made it a lot better already, but let\'s see if it can be fixed for good.

1) If you used multiple objects to create the blade, it may be that they\'re not joined together. To join them, go into object select mode -key. Select all the objects in the blade and bring up the menu. Choose \'Weld\'. If it says that there are no faces found to weld, go to menu again but now choose the box next to \'Weld\'. There you can adjust the weld tolerance. In your case 0.5 should be enough. Click ok; if it says nothing more, the faces should be welded. If it still doesn\'t find any faces to weld, increase the tolerance a bit and try again.

(Welding the objects also decreases the face count a bit, as it deletes the faces that are left hidden between the objects)

2) If the blade still looks segmented, you can try flattening the \'segmented\' faces. Select them in face select mode [F] and click .Flatten. from the popup menu. Then select the axis you want to flatten (y if your sword is done horizontally).

That\'s all I can think of. All in all, very nice sword, and good job with the texturing. It could use some light here and there, but in general very likeable. :)

Edit -
Aye, your new picture looks like the 0.5 welding tolerance that I gave, is too big. My bad. Please do try with smaller tolerance, until you find a value that welds only the wanted faces. Hmm, you could try welding the object pairs one by one, I\'m not sure if it matters though.

Thanks,

thats what happened when i welded it at 0.5 i have tried flattening  it before i even tried to flatten the welded blade. no  change. should i try and  weld each individual piece to the other ?

um yeah . small update i dunno if this will have any affect on anything.
i took another look at it and  then removed about 7+ extra peices that were unneeded. blade looks a whole lot simpler now . still degmented but i dunno if  this will have any affect on anything.
