Everything Black but not the other thing

Hey everyone i am posting this to see if anyone else is having the problem of the updater of planeshift being black and the mouse disappearing. Well it is happening to me! Anyone got any sugestions about whats wrong and how I can fix it?

EDIT: Right i managed to click update even though i couldn\'t see my mouse. it has now started updating and has gone from black to light gray but my mouse still disappears.

Don\'t update yet. Things are still being worked on and tested by developers. I\'m also having this black window issue, but you should not update your client yet- if you do, backup first.

K, Thanks Moogie  i cancelled, but will this effect the game cancelling at about 28% completion?

What if someone already updated and didn\'t backup first?  Is that irrepairably bad?
Oh, and when I ran the update again, after getting the \"MSVCR71D.dll\" is missing message, it looked fine (the updater).  
It still says that I am missing that .dll file (which I\'m not, I checked in both the system32 folder and in my planeshift directory, they both have them.)

Yeah, I updated again and just got the update text.  The server is still down apparantly (I pinged it and got no response) so maybe it will be fixed later.  But the updater is back to normal I believe.

EDIT: K Serious problem, My updater is still black and it says I\'M missing MSVCR71D.dll. So now i have 2 problems...
Anyway, It says i have updater version 1.0.2.6 I used to have the 1.0.2.5 and had to update to get that one but didn\'t update to get the .6 one. Would this be effecting it?

Please wait with everything until we announce that things are ready. It doesn\'t make sense to try this now. We\'re still working on it.

nobody said yet wat could happen to the game if you already started updating. I got to 50% right b4 i read this so i closed the updater, but I still need to know wat could be the damage. And by the way Jorrit, I try to update all my software daily to make sure its up to date, so the question is why do this and give us the ability to download harmful software (especially since we could not tell that the software is faulty, I just assumed the configuration of planeshift was a bit off), it doesnt make sense on your part.

I came across the same thing right as I updated the updater to 1.0.2.6, it all went black and I lost the mouse while it was over the screen. Also, ALL of the text seems to be staying on the screen, and covering over previous text - that goes for the file names and the percent completed as well, so it all becomes a big blur. Is this also happening to anyone else?
How can I fix this, what should I do? Since there seem to be many others that are playing it now, and there are no more red words saying the server is down, I\'m running this through to completion in hopes that it will perhaps solve the problem or at LEAST let me hopefully finally be able to play the game. Yeah, I had the luck to download it and be extremely wrapped up in it on FRIDAY NIGHT, heheheh.
Hopefully this goes well. I\'m going cross country in the morning as well, so won\'t have access again until Saturday.

Run updater with -auto option (\'updater safe mode\' in menu I think).

i dont remember where but you can download Msvcr90 from the internet. there should be a link on one of the threads in this forum. when you do get it, just place it in your planeshift directory.

where is this -auto (safe mode), or the menu for that matter, located?
