Add one space and --auto to the target of your updater shortcut.
We're not evil. We're simply amazing.

Yea hi, as it turns out that didn\'t seem to do anything except I can now use pssetup again but it has the same black screen issue.  Any suggestion please.

I have VS6 installed, and it conflicts with msvcrt71. But I donot have a .NET and dont want to uninstall my VS6. So I\'m now unable to play PS. Could someone please make the client independent of these msvcrt71... I dont even understand why is it needed, its a part of the developement envirovment isnt it?

okay... i had the same blackness issue, and i added the \"--auto\" thing and ran it. the DOS window came up for a few moments, then vanished and never came back up. any ideas on how to fix this little bugger?

TheMinority: Did you already complete the update via the normal GUI updater?  I mean did you let the graphical updater run even though it looked weird?  It sounds like your updater just appended the update log (you know, when it downloads that update.txt file and tells you you\'re done).  Try running the graphical updater again and check to see if it looks normal again.

If this is the case, your client should be up-to-date. :)

i tried running the graphical one. it said that the updater needed to be updated and proceeded to do so, then it when it shut down to restart, it came back up as a black screen and kept saying it ran out of mirrors and my mouse vanished whenever i tried to click on something. so, i tried the \"--auto\" method, and found that it just dissapears on me now. i also just tried re-downloading, re-installing, then updating, but i get the same exact problem

Psclient, pssetup and updater are crashing with access violation on startup in msvcrt71. Could this dependency be solved?

about the --auto thing. I am relatively familiar with computers, but am by no means a programmer. the file at this point should read like this updater.exe--auto correct? If so, i cant run it anymore

The \"-auto\" thing is just a switch.  Just paste:

\"C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue\\updater.exe\" -auto
(assuming that\'s where yours is; note the space; keep the quotes)

into your run window from the start menu or a command line, or tack the switch onto the end of your updater\'s shortcut.  Lots of programs accept specific switch commands after the file name.  Examples would be a file name to open, or any host of options starting with a dash or slash in most cases.  Lots of posts have double dashes.  I don\'t know why they do, but it doesn\'t really effect anything one way or the other.
