CB Feature - Diagnostic files - READ THIS! (Now with flavor)

When the client crashes, it will ask you to save a Diagnostic file.

This file is VERY nice, because it contains everything we need to pinpoint the bug, so please use this feature.
When you press Yes, the client will close and you\'ll have to go to your PlaneShift directory and upload the file you got here:
http://command.no-ip.com/dmp/
Really, you do NOT need to post any link anymore

The filename is something like this:
PlaneShift_Androgos Khanari_Version_Dec 24 2004_Addr0A752CB4.dmp

On the more technical side:
The dumps contain a backtrace on all the function called and the exact line where the code fails.
It also has a memory dump inside it, providing access to the variables that matter.
In other words, it\'s almost like it would crash at our computers attached to a debugger


NOTE!
If you get crashes, please try to disable sound first and see if it \"solves\" it. If it does, do NOT post the dump.

Due to a text formating error the first number in the dmp files  was removed, sorry about that.

The thing I got until that was this:
*C00724A / *FD43CF8 - Sound problem, occurs at loading near the end. Disable sound?
****1F82 - Crash in jpg / tga loading

Where the Crash in jpg is known in the CS team and the other should be able to be bypassed by disabling sound.

The site will contain the addresses of the stuff that I get many duplicates of and I will try to post something helpfull if your problem is specific to you.

I\'d love to give you a system dump of whats going on, but I can\'t... I\'ll elaborate:
I updated to the new version (can\'t use bittorrent, so I had to leave the machine to its devices on that one), it seemed to work tho...

I tried running the game, but the screen was offset and in a window (locked in place)
I shut it off and went to planeshift setup tool and my machine locked up. Tried three times and got nowhere... Help?
Oh, I almost forgot, I run on windows 2k adv server.

Thanks for reminding me of that one

A few debugging commands and I\'ve got following:
open pssetup.cfg and change the following line:
System.PlugIns.iImageIO = crystalspace.graphic.image.io.multiplex
to
System.PlugIns.iImageIO = crystalspace.graphic.image.io.multiplexer

(add \'er\' to the end)
Save and try again

Haven\'t looked at that one yet, but I did access the planeshift.cfg file and set:
Video.FullScreen = false
to
Video.FullScreen = true
I\'ll test that out later :P
(am glad I\'m familiar with cfg files, I own a small server and it relies on em :P)

It still isnt working i cant find those files but when i star Planeshift it says: crystalspace.canvas.openglwin:No hardware found. but it contiues whit loading.

help me please.

how big are .dmp files because uploading takes ages if i do..

The problem is that the file \"psclient.txt\" quite quickly reaches several megabytes, and that is why the upload takes ages and then fails. That file must be deleted regularly to keep it\'s size down. If you forgot that, copy the final 5 or so pages off it and upload that instead of the whole file. The dmp files are only a ~50 KB in size.

Help me someone!!

I have tried to get help on this all day...I have just joined \"Plainshift: Crystal Blue\"...And I got on...I got started on creating my character. I picked out a name...Chose a race...And I was going to customize my character but the buttons on the screen didn\'t work...I clicked on beard, face, and all of them, and they didn\'t work...So decided to live with how my character looked and I went to the \"Join Game\" button...I double clicked on it, and I started up...I sat for the next 3 & a half mins. waiting on it to finish loading...and when the colored bar showing how far along the world is to opening...it stopped and the most annoying sound in the world (The Windows warning sound) went off...And a message came up that said : \"Something unexpected happened in Planeshift : Crystal Blue. Details: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 7C00724A...I clicked yes and it closed out...What do I do...I\'m not so good at comuters so if someone could me...I would appreciate it. Greetings,

Before posting it may have been a good idea to read the beginning of this thread. Androgos posted instructions quite clearly. On the linked website, http://command.no-ip.com/dmp/, you can see a short list of the known problems (and associated numbers). Your issue, 7C00724A, is sound related. The posted solution is to disable the sound (run the setup application, located within your installed PlaneShift directory; or choose Start -> Programs -> PlaneShift Crystal Blue -> Setup if you are on Windows). This will \"solve\" it for the time being.

Customization of character appearance is also not implemented yet. Only a few variations of the male Ynnwn and male Dermorian faces are available. New skins are being worked on.

Also, no need to double-click on the Join Game button ;) Once will do.

Why are we using such an outdated dbghelp.dll anyway? Isn\'t the latest around 6.2.13.1 and we are using something like 6.0.17.0 :P.

edit: NM the newest seems to be like 6.5.3.7

Well I tryed to upload my .dmp file with the error in it but it won\'t work so I\'ll just explian it here first.

After i tryed to log in my character for the first time, it had all finished loading then the error 5ED3E6B2 popped up.

I have the .bmp file but can\'t upload it, any suggestions as to what it is?
