Long message with lots of ideas...

This is a reeeeaaaaally long message so take your time, or just don\'t even bother, you lazy pie!.

Looks:
I think you should be able to customize your characters looks so you would look unique(alittle atleast) realted to the others, (it\'s kinda boring when everybody looks the same). Like you should be able to change your clothes color, your head graphic(you could choose different depending on your charisma), muscularity (depending on str), and maybe even tone your skin color (not \'change\', \'tone\'!) so you could tone your skin, lighter or darker?
And maybe have tatoos from your earlier life, your guild, or maybe just for fun? (mentioned in an earlier post). And if you are hurt/poisoned/diseased it would show on your body. Like if you are hurt it would be a bruise, scar, fleshwound, wound, or a mayor bleeding wound (depending on your damage) and your skin tone would change if you were sick... And when you are hurt, you need to wear bandages(would be seen on your character) for a few days(depending on how hurt you are) And your stats/skills would be weaker until you were cured. (magics wound heal you without bandages, and you wouldn\'t have to wait all day long to get cured, but(if you dont have a mage in your party) you would need to buy salves/potions or be healed by a healer, the magic would be more expencive, but more effective)
I know this would take time to code and it would bring lots of lag, but it would be cool.

Gods:
It would be cool if you could worship some sort of gods in Planeshift. Like, if you are evil you worship an evil god, and if you are good you worship an good god.
And if you pray, or sacrife something (like an item) to the god you gain some \"Godly Blessing/Power\" or something. And then later, you could use it to do some powerfull magic, or forge a magical weapon, or boost your stats for some time.

Weapons:
Weird Weapon thingie: It would also be cool if the weapons have a name (as they mentioned in the Individuality thread) and then, you could level the weapon too! (From Gorasul) or you could just boost it with some exp in the smithy, or even level it with some \"Godly Power\"?

Character Stuff:
Maybe you should be able to see a characters name just by clicking on him?
If this is going to be a really \'real\' RPG you should be able to see a characters name/skills/hp without asking, or battling him. Or maybe you could use your perception/intelligence/charisma to get a check (not exact, but almost accurate, depending on the skills of your own character, like if you are low skilled in per/int/chr the character that is exactly the same skills as yourself would look like he was really low skilled char or a really high skilled char.) on his stats/skills. or maybe (if it isnt to hard to add cool graphics in the game) you could see that a character has lots of strength by looking at his muscles.

Vision stuff:
And i just got this idea now. (i dont know if perception will be a statistic in the game but anyhow...) If you had a low perception rate, your vision range would be low (so the world would be foggy, and you cant see that house 10 feet away) and if you have a high perception rate, you would see really far away. (this vision range could be affected by day/night cycling, if there is going to be a world outside this cave.) And maybe if you are diseased/poisoned or something your vision range would be lowered too.

Sicknesses?
It would be cool (but bad for everybody) if there was going to be diseases in the world, like if there is living to many people in the city, some sort of filth disease would strike it and everybody that drinks the water or talks with that man, or something would get sick?

It\'s just some weird evil thing i just thought of... I would really like this game to be as the \'real\' world but in some sort of old time fantasy universe. I think that would be nifty.

I got the weapons idea pretty late at night and i haven\'t had the time to \"fix\" it, so it may some a little weird.  :)

Hey! I CAN\'T be saying this!:
1. Maybe official (game)marriage can be able in the game (like you are married in the game, not for real :P) so there would be a priest, a crowd, rings, and of course the MOST desirable: CAKE! :9
2. I have seen a thread about this but i didn\'t really see an answer, Horses.

And yeah... now my little twinking evil wizard\'s brain starts to twirl and i get the idea of really strong magics! like the ones that takes 2 days to cast to create a magic staff (needs different types of wood and such too) and if you are like 20 VERY strong mages, you could start chanting for some weeks and even stop the sun(in the \'land above\')...!(it wouldnt do anything, you would just stop the sun, and you would be rememberad as \'the one that did -points to the sky- that!\' :D

I just said ^that^ because i thaught it would be cool. It would be impossible to code such powerful magics (the ones that makes you all-powerful so you can do \'anything\'. but indeed, it would be cool.

Almost all of this stuff has been talked about before...

They are working on customized looks as we speak.

There are gods in planeshift, but i am not sure if you can worship them.

I dont think there is a purpose to leveling a weapon, it will more or less be straight upgrade(i.e. Hey i have a rusty dagger! but wait look, there is a steel dagger over there, i\'ll use that!)

And you can see the characters name if put your mouse over the character, also the visible stats was a hot topic for the past few days, and the general consensus is you shouldnt just be able to view some ones stats, there were many solutions brought up, i brought up the point of using a consideration skill that you would level over time, similar to what you propose.

From the looks of it the dev\'s aren\'t worrying about sickness/disease in the game just yet, or mabye they dont plan to put it in.

Vision is already taken care of

Not sure about marriage. came up a while ago though

There will be methods of transportation, not sure if there would be horses, but there will be flying beasts you can ride.

Also, i dont think the long period of chanting magic is feasible, that would require the coding of literally hundreds of extra variables, plus i dont think wizard types would stand around for 2 weeks chanting a spell, and it gives casters an unfair advantage (how could a warrior type move the sun?)

Ok, I?ll be brief.

Good ideas.

Looks: comes down to 3D capability and size of download?the more character look options the bigger the download?some may say it is worth it till they have to download 3 gigs?

Gods: there will be gods, but we are toying with different options, the whole polytheistic thing is a troubling thing for most people in today?s western culture. And Gods being neutral is something people have trouble with as well?but this is a long discussion.

Weapons: we are toying with ?Weapon improvement? that will allow you to customize and perhaps name your weapon.

As a human how would you know how strong one Kran is compared to another? In Real life I have gotten my clocked cleaned by people smaller then me, and I have beated people who where twice my size in American football. Why would you ever know the stats of another player?all you can tell is how they look to you, perhaps you could see them as posers, and knowing what they where doing?but that would be it.  

Vision stuff: well most of this is already addressed, others stuff is nice, but we will see if it makes it in, the computer figuring what you should see and feeding you that would be a strain on the server/bandwidth?and controlling it client side would open up exploits. But it is a cool idea?but best for a 1 person game.

Sicknesses: we?ll have them but not like in real life, magic is the great Cure all :-)

Strong magics: we?ll have something, but not the ten hour, destroy a city kind of stuff.

The rest, well that?s all social stuff and we will see when we get to that.

I really like the naming/customizing of the weapons, best idea i\'ve seen.  Alot of those \"ideas\" are implements of other games like legends, yet still good ideas.

the naming of weapons, should it be implemented, should probably be limited to no drop ones. It wouldnt be very RPish to have a corroded short sword and you named it \"The Blade of Unlimited Slaying\", and the naming of a droppable weapon degrades its value, i wouldnt want to buy a sword off of someone and it is already named something.

In http://www.planeshift.it/setting_overview.html in the chapter titled Measuring Time?it states ?The Crystal draws its light from the surface? we are slow to update out site and much is buried in many places, however I think people should calm down from correcting every little detail.

There is much that can and will change as this game comes closer to fruition, this game has a long history and a few incarnations, we should not be hounding each other about these details yet, all in all it depends what information you have access to as well as what info you take as gospel, we do have contradictions in our documentation?the chore of review and meshing all documents has not even begun.

I suggest every one keep their gun holstered before saying what is what. Because in many cases there is more then one right.

As a side note: 90% of what I post will change by the time the game comes out, hold me to everything I say if you want?but all I can say is where I am going today?tomorrow things might change. As we advance in every field we might figure that some things no longer fit the vision, or that the vision has a hole or two?and we can make some changes for the better?we should post somewhere, everything is subject to change without notice, but there are people who would disagree with that?.oh well

OK, than I stand corrected.
But i thought you did write some of it. If you did not, than what DO you do for PS? :D Me thought Settings was your department, and this was right up your alley.

P.S. i also thought that there is no day/night in the cave, and the crystal shined all the time. But if the sun somehow comes throught it, how would the crystal keep bright all year long? Or am i confused once again, and this is just one of those things, like the gods changing thier sex through-out the story <--- that was really confusing to me ?(

That?s what I mean by contradictions and issues in the story, Parasite is a member of the settings team, but that does not mean he knows every nook and cranny of it?not even the Leader or Talad do. At least not today

And if there are contradictions in two stories?who is right???

For now don\'t worry on the details, some of them might change, some might not...
