Looking for a program to spec my comp.
« on: May 25, 2005, 11:59:01 pm »
It\'s that time of year again... The time to upgrade my comp. So, long story short, I\'m looking for a program that can scan my comp and tell me in full detail exactly what it consists of.

I know what is inside my comp for the most part, but I\'m gona be upgrading my ram this year (aiming at 2GB), and I need very specific details (so I can make it compatable).

Also I just want to check what\'s getting out of date.

I could use the standard \"system information\" option in windows, but I don\'t find it very officient.

Can anyone sujest a good program?

if your a windows user there is a command used from run, can remember what it was though, quite handy,

I\'m looking for a nifty little program that holds my specs on the desktop with a little calendar, something to go in the top right blank area :3

I just tried EVEREST, and it gave me alot of the information I needed.

I guess I\'ll shop around for the stuff I need, then discus whether I actualy need it here.

P.S.  If I\'m not mistaken, my motherboard can handle 2GB of RAM... But I was wondering... is that overkill? Right now I have 512mb (2 - 256mb), and the speed tends to piss me off at times (especialy when un-ziping/raring and trying to do do other things at the same time). I\'m also a gamer, and my comp tends to slow down there too.

I have 1 Gig in mine and it\'s fine when I play PS, watch Xfiles, and have trillian and a couple Firefox windows open at once ;)

I believe 2 gigs is a bit overkill.  Most boards these days can handle 2 GB of RAM, but I don\'t think it\'s really necessary.  I\'ve been tempted to stick another GB in mine for the heck of it, but logically I don\'t think it would make too much of a difference.

What\'s your FSB and processor type/brand, anyway?  RAM won\'t make a big difference if your processor isn\'t up to snuff. Or GPU, for that matter.  :)

And I also use Sandra.

I\'m \"The Capitalist\" (used to be \"The Communist\", but then I pissed off a mod...)
