What to do when psclient.exe crashes?
« on: May 27, 2005, 02:29:41 pm »
When I try to load the world it suddenly crashes when it\'s almost finished. It sais that psclient.exe does somehing unexpected and it asks to save a diagnostic file. What can I do to make it work?
I may not always be right, but I\'m never wrong.

Is it just me or has Avaarok posted at least four threads about that exact same problem?

here
here
and here

This is a forum, not an IRC channel: repeating the same question over and over is not going to help getting it answered. In fact, it only serves to reduce your chances of getting answers at all by making people ignore your SPAM.

@ Gholan din Rhodak: this file should be inside the main PS folder. Check if it\'s there and 702 KB (719.360 Bytes) in size. If not, download it from here.
Note that I appended a \".bmp\" to it (so that the server would let me upload it), which must be removed!
Just download this file into your main PS folder and remove the \".bmp\".

I\'ve got the dbghelp.dll (703kb) program but now I get another error (i didn\'t download or delete anything). Now I get a runtime error.
P.S. I turned sound off.

Hmm, this seems pretty random to me, then... it might just be that your system has become confused a bit, something a reboot would fix. However, it might also be that there is another problem, be it hardware or software (viruses?). PS is known to have issues (including not working on some systems), but the change in what error you\'re getting might be indicative of another reason.

In any case, you should make sure that your graphics drivers, the DirectX version and PS itself are most recent.

If you get a dump file, you should send that to the devs.

Maybe if you post your system specs there is something obvious that\'s lacking...
