Mushroom ideas

I think it would be an intersting idea to make some of the mush rooms poisonous at random, therefore it would be a risk to try and eat them. they could either heal you or hurt you and if your life depended on them it could be an intersting gamble.

I would make it so more helped than harmed, perhaps 80 to 20 ratio on good to bad.

also i think they should take the names off from above them so you have to keep your eys open to find them.

that would make the game a bit more interesting

That is a good idea, but it should be implemented only when herbalism skill will be working correctly. Because it will allow you to see what type of mushroom you have just found.

I agree with Nikodemus, while there should be mushrooms that are bad from you it shouldn\'t just be a guessing game. With the right knowledge one should be able to distinguish the poisonous ones from the healthy ones.

aha! thats a great idea. for the knowledgable, there would be no risk but for newbies in herbalism it would be. that\'s so much like real life, when your walking around picking up mushrooms and people are like  \"dont eat those, theyll probably kill you\", but they dont really know.

as with all threads about this, i want MUSHROOM TRIPS!!! c\'mon, they could make more monsters spawn, but decrease your acuracy, and again, when you ride a petyrasaur after you ate some, you can get pulled over.

Yup, I agree with all these ideas :D

Just to recap:
Some mushrooms should be poisonous (20% sounds fine). The herbalism skill would enable you to notice which are poisonous and which are fine.

My 0.2 tria:
And I think it would be the best if when you eat a poisonous one there should be a roll how poisonous it really is (natural drugs/poisons heavily vary in potency!). So you could either get a slight trip and just lose a few HP, lose quite a hefty amount of HP or even kill you.

p.s. could a drug-trip effect your stamina and mana?

Poisonous mushrooms, in the hands of an expert herbalist, should be able to be refined into a lethal poison.  Poison darts/bolts/arrows/etc. and poison powder (throw a bag of the stuff to make a cloud) could be made.  An assassin could even slip some into a mark\'s drink at the inn...

Poison mushrooms in the right hands should be able to make many different things.  Even beneficial things.  An antidote for mushroom poison.  Voodoo spells.  Coupled with gauze and some hard work, a healing wrap or poultice.  The right mushroom with some cooking skill (used to cook out the poison) gives a good mushroom (maybe better than those that you find in the wild).

Hello shifters,

I was thinking g about some sleeping powder and found this thread

As a mage i like to have a powder that puts my opponent to sleep or at least slows it down. One should be high in brown way as it a defence and also high in alchemy and or herbal . The high brown way is needed to hold and throw it so lesser mages or warriors cant use it.

Lol, or make a very few amount of shrooms that wont kill you nor hurt you. Instead, you will go crazy and see things. I would buy that for a high price ;o).
