Unix for Updating not working
« on: May 29, 2005, 04:16:56 am »
I even to the advice of some in the forum and create and new folder to put the update in and I put in ./updater.app/Contents/MacOS/updater, but it says:
./updater.app/contents/MacOS/updater: Command not found.

What is happening????

Did you change it to the correct directory using the \'cd\' command?

It doesn\'t matter anyway since the game isn\'t updated yet!

i am having a problem with the updater and the client.  the client starts up or the updater is loading and all of a sudden they crash.  the message says ps client unexpectedly quits, or updater unexpectedly quits.  a couple days later i found out that it was a bug in the game i downloaded. man they should really say something before people download.

Yes they should say PS for Mac users is not working!   Anyway we have caught the eye of Chaos on another thread and she said he will confer with Moogie, Kiva and Dfryer when they come online.

the same thing happen when I loaded the 3.005 version from a british magazine only to get error messages and discover I had to wait for a new Mac version just as we are all waiting.

I suggest that you look into guilds because they often tell about aspects of the game that you will not find on these forums.   The moderators do not want game information discussed on these forums and I agree with that.    One should get it from talking in game or from a Guild.  Look at several guilds and see which one you like.  There are all types.  They range from Lawful Good to chaotic Evil althought PS does not allow anyone to actual say they are one of those types.  PS is a RP game and you just develop and practice whatever character you have.   If you act Evil then you are  Evil, the same as being Good acting Good.    :D

Man, the magazine who put planeshift on a CD obviously didn\'t even test it first, since there was no way that it *could* have been a working version.

Oh well.

If you\'re getting \"unexpectedly quit\" error messages, you need to paste or send me the crash log, else the report is useless.

Note that until I get an updater download posted to the main site, the only way to get version 10 files is to use Cha0s\'s java updater and then change permissions as described in my post in this thread:

Just for your information but it was in the march 2005 issue 153 of Mac.
I got on the forum in March due to this issue.  But did not start playing until a new version of PS came out in late April.

Thank you for all the work you have done and are doing.
