Try the new one. The errors should go away. The client still won\'t work, though. :(

I hope this is valuable

I ran psclient and got to the first screen which was dark but the art was clearly readable and I was loaded to the second screen.

Second screen asked for my password and i clicked OK and I got the message:

that i am not running the correct version of PS for this server.

At the top left was: PlaneShift Crystal Blue 0.3.009

So I quit.

I will now run the updater in PS 3D to see what happens.

New Edit:  the updater crashed.

I am now downloading Java jre 1.4.1 and it is in process of being established on my mac.

I will download  the new Chaos Updater.jar or rerun my updater.jar
after I reread Chaos instructions.  But first I have to restart.

Well, I updated with Chaos\'s new Updater.jar and the 3 error dissappeared and Chaos was correct the psclient still does not work.
Now, I can not even get to the first and second screens.  Some Progress???

Now I will try doing what the readme for Mac OS X users says that came with the material after I used Chaos\'s Updater.

Hello, I am a newbie here but I\'d like to report what I\'ve done.  Hopefully this helps.

I ran the updater earlier today and got the same issue with the black screen like everyone else.  I just downloaded the new updater and checked the new \"Update all files\" box and that seemed to get rid of the problem with the 3 files that had given me errors earlier.  Now, when I run the client, the program just quits.  When I run it from the terminal i get this message:

Crystal Space for MacOS/X 0.99 r0 [MacOS/X-powerpc-GCC]
Ported to MacOS/X by Eric Sunshine

WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.kernel.vfs\'
Couldn\'t load VFS plugin \"crystalspace.kernel.vfs\"!
ERROR: csInitializer::SetupConfigManager failed!
Is your CRYSTAL environment variable set?

Am I wrong to expect that I should still get a black screen, or did the updater mess something up?  I hope this helps.

When double-clicked, the app should just quit (well, it shouldn\'t, but that\'s what it does. :P ).

When you run from Terminal, you should get the splash screen and a nice error. Make sure to cd to your Planeshift 3D folder and then type \"./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient\" (followed by a return).

Ok I recoppied the program from the .dmg and i ran the updater without checkign any boxes.  The game now launches to the splash screen and I get no error message it just stops there.  When I run the game from the terminal I get the same message.  I wonder if something got messed up from checking the box or not getting a full update since the game wouldnt bring up a window at all before on the install I previously had.

You do need to check the box as there are new cfg files you need (I think). However, you are still missing a plugin which has not been uploaded to the repository yet. Therefore, until it gets uploaded, you won\'t be able to play. Hopefully, it\'ll be up tomorrow, though it depends on when dfryer can get Talad to do it. :P

Using terminal to run Readme suggestion
« Reply #23 on: May 30, 2005, 07:29:15 pm »
Using:
1) Open the Terminal application in /Applications/Utilities
2) enter cd /your/path/to/planeshift   <-- where /your/path/to/planeshift represents the folder that planeshift is in, for example \"cd /Applications/Planeshift/\"
3) Type \"./updater.app/Contents/MacOS/updater\" and hit return, without the quotes\"

the results got me:

To clarify, even if you run the updater from the commandline, it\'s broken - only Cha0ses updater is working.

Furthermore, it has been established that what I uploaded is missing *at least one* plugin, hopefully I\'ll get to that by tomorrow evening.

I have run Chaos updater.

Now  I go to terminal under utilities in applications and clicking on the terminal image and gettin a prompt.   I type \"cd \" , then using finder
drag the folder for Planeshift 3D to the terminal window and hit return.
Then I type ./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient and hit return which generate a long series of lines ending in:

crystalspace.pluginmgr.loadplugin:
WARNING: could not load plugin \'cel.pcfactory.defaultcamera\'
HEY HEY
crystalspace.application.celtest:
  CEL \'cel.pcfactory.defaultcamera\' plugin missing!

the terminal window reads at the top: Terminal -- psclient -- 80x24

Also this psclient line generates the opening window of PS showing Planeshift in the upper right hand corner.   Four races -- Kran, Enkidukai, one with long ears and a bearded man and Crystal Blue in lower left hand corner.    The screen is frozen and will not run because the program lacks something -- Namely your (dfryer) expertise.  All I can do is quit at that stage is quit.  Also at the top is 3.010 stated.
I did find \"cel.pcfactory.defaultcamera\" on the internet under pastebin.com which obviously has much to do with the development of PS.

The OS X version isn\'t working right now.  Wait until there\'s more news saying that it\'s working again.  It should be in a couple days if that one plugin is all that\'s missing.
Abandon hope all ye who enter here.
