you can try the /spawn command.
And well the sewers are pretty dark, but there\'s nothing to see down there, just rats and gobbles...
Better stay on the surface.

Check the brightness and contrast on your monitor.

A) This post is in the wrong place.  It is an in game issue
B)  Turn up the gamma of your screen a bit.  
C)  Don\'t go into the sewers at night, and wait until it is light to try to get out.  They are supposed to be dark
